Should I remove lower part of airbox???
Should I remove lower part of airbox???
I am going to install my hybrid intake soon and I've seen a few different setups:
-one with the stock airbox completely removed
-remove only the top part of the airbox and leave the lower part and the airduct connecting front of the engine bay to the box
-leave only the airduct in but remove the airbox
I know leaving the lower part of the airbox in would look kinda weird but it seems like it would bring coolerair into the filter. I just want to know if it would make any difference at all cuz more than likely I'll just leave the airduct thing in and take out the box.
what do you guys think??

what most people do is, leave the bottom part of the Filter box and place there intake inside the bottom section with the "RamAir" tubing still in place..

It's not really getting colder air anyway, thats why we don't have a stock CAI. Most people leave the bottom part of the airbox to hold the intake in place. If not you will hear it bumping around in there. If you really want it out you can make a custom stand or get 1 from Stillen I think.
I cleaned mine out to open the engine bay...I like it personally and don't care about the air feed from the box as the mild difference in ambient intake temperature is nulled from an open element in the top...just my 2 cents.

Dont all intakes come with a stand to hold it in place. I know JWT, frankencar, stillen, and some others do, but isnt that a given?

With JWT I felt that the bracket was necessary. I wouldn't want the intake pieces to hold itself up without support.
Anyway, if you check out page 3 of my cardomain homepage, you can see what I did. Routed a 3'' tube from the bottom of the car straight to the filter (non-ram), for the purpose of having cold air at any moving speed.
