A question, some race stories too..

Ok, i'll start this off with my question. Its abouta low idle. Anyway, I recently installed Reverse Indiglo Guages on my 95 GXE. Installation was a bit rough, but in the end everything worked almost flawlessly except that the RPM needle can sometimes get stuck between 3000-4000 RPMs. Anyway, I started up my car this morning and everything was working good, packed my 3 friends into the car and we headed down the parkway to Belmar averaging around 80. Stay for the day then get back in for the drive home. As I'm going down the entrance ramp this late 90's eclipse RS with this big ghey *** wing cuts me off. So I get on his *** a bit just to show I didn't appreciate it. We end up both getting stuck at a light side by side so I roll down my window and ask him how much horsepower that wing gives him the light turns green and I tool the sh*t out of him, even with my 3 friends in the car. All I have done is CAI. Anyway, later in the day i'm coming home via 287 south and we see the Supra, pretty new, stock. My friends and I were just checking it out and then the guy sticks his hand out the T-top and waves bye and takes off, I was like, well, lets see what happens. I blow by him, and he gets behind me and I do a little weaving and loose him in traffic, drop back again, look at him and gun it and actually pull on him. I was like no no no, this can't be right so i drop back again and keep looking at the guy and then he nails and is gone, I was like yeah thats it. So we messed around a little more on the highway, I drop off my friends, and I'm on my way home. Now Here's The Question: As i'm drivig down my road I'm going about 30mph, and my car is at about 700RPM, I was like what? I pull into my driveway and put the car in Park and its idling at 100RPMs, car sounds good, is running fine, but my car used to idle at about 800. So I put on my A/C which usually cause the RPM to jump about 200 and it did from 100-300 RPMs. So what could be wrong? It worked fine when I left and now its all low. Is it simply low due to all the highway driving? Any info would be appreciated.

I guess, but 100 RPM? Is there any way I could fix it so it gives me the correct reading?

Well if you took the needles off and didn't mark off where it's limit is, then you probably screwed up the readings. If you didn't take the needle off you might've twisted it as you put the other gauges in, which will give you an incorrect reading. It's pretty easy to fix it tho. Just take apart your dash cluster (pain in the @zz), then figure out by how many rpm's ur off by and push the needle clockwise (past the 8000) until it doesn't go anyomre. Then just push it firmly, about 600 or 700rpms, whatever you need to get it to read normally.

Also make sure the other gauges aren't screwed up. You may be out of fuel when it says you have 1/4 tank

Yea, sounds good.. Don't worry too much about it, you have an auto. If you want to make sure just do a SEARCH on idle rpms!!!

I've had some similar issues with my tach. It just doesn't seem to want to work, showing 300/400 rpm idle, and only wraps as far as 3000. Also, it sometimes gets twitchy, like it twitches back and forth over a 500-800 rpm range. Then sometimes its perfectly fine. It did this when I got the car and I have since installed the indiglos as well, and still it will do it at times. But I'm an auto so not like I really need a tach.
