Dissapointing Dyno results...
Last weekend I went to a grand opening of this import tuner shop and had my car dyno-ed (it was a $15 promo) I was dissappointed.
I only did one run but the car did 121.9Hp @~ 5300 rpm, Tq was 144.0@ 4200 rpm. I have a CAI, UDP, Lightweight flywheel and Y-pipe. These numbers were dissappointing. This was the second time I had my car dyno-ed the first time my car had no mods the numbers were roughly ~113Hp and ~132 ft-lbs of tq -I couldn't find my old print-out but these numbers are close +/-. I live in colorado and have the VG engine new distributor, injectors and timing belt. Could altitude have this big of an effect on performance or is my car in need of some work?

 

definently get your car tuned up and re-do the dyno....an old member Hojo dynoed his VG auto(only mods were 2.5" catback and intake) and he dynoed ~127hp.....so you should definently be in the mid/high 130's or low 140s plus you're a 5spd!!! DEFINENTLY TRY IT AGAIN!!!

The old rule of thumb was that you lose 3% power for every 1000 ft.

You're at 5280 ft. I wouldn't worry about it.

Drive your car down to sea level sometime and it will feel like you have a new motor.

 

exactly what Tom said. the altitude is causing a big dip in power. have the shop correct the numbers to sea level (it's in the computer's software if they've got a good dyno). then you'll have real numbers to compare it to.

 

It would come out to be ~131hp and 152 ft.lbs of torque...
Damn my algebra is rusty!
