Just raced a 1995 5.0 5 Speed...

Sup guys,

My friend has a convertable 1995 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 5 Speed. He has 18" rims and has taken out his mufflers so that it sounds louder. No other mods.

I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima GXE 5 Speed with a stillen cat-back + B pipe + Y pipe and the stillen pop charger. Short Shifter, eibachs springs on tokico shocks. Rear: 18" Alessio Nevadas on Pirelli Pzeros. Front: Stock 16" crappy GXE rims (my front rim is damaged so I ordered a new one, arrived today! No other mods.

Ok so hes been talking **** like how hes gonna **** all over me in his 5.0, so I got ****ed and called him out. He went and got his 5.0 and I took my baby out. Went around and found a empty spot to race.

From standing still, I launched somewhere around 3000 and my front wheels chirped and we were off, neck to neck. Shifted to 2nd at around 6200 and cherped the tires again, by now im starting to pull on him. Then came third gear and that put me a half a car length ahead. The space ended and we turned off. He goes and parks in a spot and tells me that lets forget racing and just chill...saying something about a crappy launch. So im laughing my *** off and told him to get his car out and lets go for a rolling start. Im in second gear and rolling slowly. He pulls up next to me and we roll together. Counted down from 5 and wwe floor it at the same time. I start gaining on em and the same thing, by third gear im 1/2 car length ahead and gaining at a steady pace. So he calls it off. We raced twice from a rolling start and I took him twice. I was prepared for a whooping but the maxima just opened a can of whoopass. So now his excuse is that hes not that good of a driver but if his cousin was driving he'd whoop my ***. Ohh well, I'll give him a chance too.

WOOOHOOoo. MY MAX WALKED A 5.0 BABY!

not really true, '95s were pretty slow a Buick Roadmaster did a quicker 0-60 back than a GT Mustang in '95 (MT) I've put more than a few 5.0s in their place... you have to get a good launch thats the trick

I've raced some, never from a stop though, and been smoked pretty well but they were all on the highway from a roll. who knows for sure what year/mods because I didnt know the people and I have an auto I30 so...either way I've been put in my place by 5.0's more than a few times...

The old 5.0 make about ~166 rwhp stock. You make more than he does stock. With mods, goodbye 5.0!

I have raced a few in wilmington, nc and have won everytime. These were all mostly stock w/ some having exhaust pipes. The heavly moded 5.0's will smoke the hell out of the max, but the stock 5.0's are a fair match.

haha, don't waste your time with V6 stangs. i lined up with a 99 V6 camaro with manual tranny. we got identically crappy RTs (.671) and i took him by a full second. whenever i'm at the track i look forward to racing 5.0 type mustangs. i know i could take out about half of them. they see my time and they come up to me saying "no way your car runs that time without NOS or something." they give me a look like i'd like to race LT1 powered camaros. i know i'd get smoked, but at least i'd hang for a few moments. the best to race are the old school type "musclecars" that have no mods. i see these dudes quite often at test and tune. they run higher 14's. interesting to put my maxima in that mix. but those roughnecks just want to save some face. it's all in good fun.

I believe 94 and up Stangs are only 4.6 and not 5. The 93 was the last year to get the 5.0

I had a huge discussion a few days ago in a thread called "Max vs. Mustang". A few members did not believe that I have beat GT's many times. Before 99 they are a really good race for a 4th gen 5-speed Max, or I30t in my case. Thanks for giving me some more validity.
Nice Kill.

a lot of 5.0 mustangs were running high 14s and even 15s. if they're largely stock a maxima 5 speed with appropriate bolt ons is more than a match for them. have you toasted a ford lately?

yes it could get much much bigger. Sorry, but down-sampling the image makes it look horrible. I havnt had the time to take another one or mess around with this one to make it the appropriate size. Sorry

if any of you need a place to host ur sigs...let me know...just sigs.. not other pics please.
