any problems with putting on new rotors with new break pads at the same time?

I'm getting some brand new zinc coated dimpilled(not drilled all the way)/ slotted rotors & im putting in brand new nissan oem break pads. After which I'm putting on some 18's.

The question is that some recommend to "season" the rotors with old break pads before...by heating them up gradually. If im not planning on going to the racetrack, and just driving on the freeway/city how should i approach this? Will i mess up my rotors by putting in new rotors/new pads same time?

thanks for help.

I don't think its recommended, but I've done it before without any problems. Just be very careful breaking them in. I went to a big parking lot a did a series of slow stops from different speeds for about an hour, and all's been well ever since.

No problem at all. Just take some brake cleaner to the rotors first and really clean them off. Then take some very fine sandpaper and sand both surfaces of the rotors with tiny circular motions. This will help them break in just fine...

By the way... it's BRAKES, not breaks.

I would recommend breaking new rotors using the old pads. A year ago, I switched to brembo blank rotors and Porterfield RS4 pads. The initial stops were just plain scarry, and it even after doing Porterfield's break in procedure (hard stops until the pads fade), it took several thousand miles before I felt confident about my new brake setup.

Now, however, everything is fine.

Well since you are not getting aftermarket pads, you should be fine with the Nissan OEM pads. Think about it this way. When your Maxima rolled off the assembly line, it had new rotors and brake pads. And you never had any problems braking right?

However, if you get a more aggressive pad like Porterfields, I would follow the new pad, old rotor (or vice versa) rule.

There are no problems installing new pads and rotors at the same time. Thats how brand new cars are delivered.

Hello lets use some common sense here.

Use the manufacturer reccomended break in procedure for new brakes.

Wheather it be OEM or aftermarket brakes.
