I am going to change the oil of 98 maxima by myself for the first time. I would like to know what size wrench should I use for the oil change. Thanks

 

I believe its size 14mm (90% sure), if not its 12mm. Its one of those two definitely.

 

The oil drainplug is 14mm, you'll also need a 10mm and a phillips head screw driver to remove the plastic shield. Some sort of wrench to remove the filter is handy, but you can drive a screwdriver through it to use as a handle in a pinch (beware, this is messy).

 

What plastic shield?

 

The plastic undertray that covers the oil fliter, crank pulley, etc.

 

you don't HAVE to remove the plastic shield...I didn't...
But, it does make the job easier...

Yes it's 14MM, and I've found that you don't need to remove the plastic if you have a small enough wrist to fit it around it to unscrew the filter (it bends the plastic a little, but it pops back into place once you're done).

When I do an oil change, I take my ratchet, 14mm deep socket, new oil filter, oil pan, jack, and new oil.

 

seriously.. not being a d$ck but. oil plug size.
Are you planning to lay out the tools the day before you do this.
