Should i get the OEM fuel filter or is there something else that lasts longer and is better?

 

you can get a Purolator from PEP Boys...

The 300ZX fuel filter will work also. It is just larger in size and will last longer...sorry no extra HP gains.

 

id suggest the 300zx one as well....no HP as he said, but it lasts longer, and you dont have to change it every frickin year

Ok i knew about the 300ZX fuel filter, but which manufacturer filter should i get? Bosch makes fuel filters for Nissans and i can get one from canadian tire for cheap. Has anyone had any problems with the Bosch filters?

i have a 97max se with a 96 300zx fuel filter and it work fine i dont know if there is anything that might work better i dont even remember what brand it was but it was something i never heard of before

 

How much of performance loss can you have with having a filter in for a long time say 20k miles??? or does it depend on the type of gas or any octane boost that we use????

acceleration isnt as smooth with a clocked filter....also, try hitting your top speed....youll stop at about 120 (depending if you have a limiter or not)...

Why even recommend a Nissan 300Z fuel filter?

Realistic (not by the Nissan manual) fuel filter life: 15k for Standard filter, 30k for 300Z filter. Why? More surface area equals more area to trap contaminents, which translates to longer life. NO performance gains are realized using the 300Z sized filter.

If paper media is breaking down, that is a defective media, and would contaminate your fuel system.

There is a performance improvement that can be realized. If your filter is clogged or real dirty, maximum fuel pressure/volume is not available, reducing horsepower. I have changed many fuel filters on customers cars and there main problem, the car can not get up to highway speed and bucking/missing on acceleration.
Problem: clogged fuel filter. An ofen overlooked maintenance item that I recommend and do change yearly.

I use the ZX filter, and have to change it more than once a year.

 

why do you have to change it so often? can you feel when the filter is getting clogged?

If we switch to ZX filter, do we need to get a bigger bracket since it's a bigger filter? I have yet to change my stock one, so I dunno how snug it fits in there.

 

It should fit in the stock bracket just fine.
