Still confused on my intake. Can anyone help??

Allright, when i took off everything to put on my filter I saw this little sensor cut into the airbox on my 96 Maxima. My boy that has a 98 said that he didn't have 1 of those. I am wondering what i do with this piece after I un-screw it. Anyone know about this??

i believe 96's are the only ones with this sensor. i may be wrong, but i do know that 97+ do not have it. anyway, what i did was have someone hold the sensor by the wire, hold it to where the sensor will hang in the middle of the air flow when the filter is mounted on. in other words screw it in between the filter and where the filter mounts. just make sure it gets air flowing by it. others have done it the same way.
