How much for a shop to do it? I also might ask this guy that has put a engine in a stanza and a 5 series BMW. How much should I offer to pay him? I also was offer $1500+ to have the swap done from a org member.I said forget it because at that charge he's raping me.

Why don't you ask how much he is charging and go from there.

pull out the yellow pages and see how much the prices are in the area. around here, $1000 is a lot to pay for a swap. in Chicago, $2000 would be a fair price due to labor charge differences.

I doubt anyone would change per hour to do an engine swap. They take more than a day, thats obvious. It's not like they're gonna be working on your car alone all the time until it's finished, so I they can't chrge per hour, they'll just give you a flat rate.

What you could do to ease the price is remove your old engine yourself, but maybe the'll need to have it in to look at the connections.

not too many ordinary mechanics are capable of swaps..so get someone with exerience.

A shop near me quoted me $500 to do a auto to 5 speed swap. They were going to take both cars, pull the auto out of one and put it in the 5 speed and vice versa, then I asked how much to swap the motors, harness and ecu he said $500 so a total of $1k I would say look around you should be able to get it done cheap.

If you've never pulled a tranny or engine before, I wouldn't recommend learning how on this car. there's a lot of hoses and wires to screw up if you don't know what you're doing- aside form the fact you'll have ~600lb of metal on your head if you drop it.

bahhh

if the tranny drops on your head or foot a band aid will fix you up good as new. I'm keen to the flintstones band aids.

I'm assuming you would have to get a different wiring harness. A tranny swap would be a lot easier than an engine swap, like Matt said there's a ton of wires underneath there.
