quick auto tranny question

I'll be getting my nitrous system tomorrow after a year of deliberation. WOO-HOO!!! The only concern I still have is this- if i'm rolling along at say38-40 mph and i punch it with the system armed, do i have to worry about the half second it takes the transmission to downshift? The nitrous will be activated instantly after the wide open switch is tripped, so will that split second possibly harm my engine because of my wanna-be-downshifting transmission? Sorry if i'm not making sense... Any ideas or help is appreciated.

I don't suggest you arm it until after you hook up in the gear it will downshift to.

ie punch it, wait for it to downshift and then hit the switch.

Remember though its YOUR transmission.

that would be the sensible thing to do. Are there any other options? It's frustrating because if i'm rolling along and the oportunity presents itself to smoke a honda, i have to get on it, arm the system, then get my other hand back on the wheel. Could I use an rpm window switch to help?

Yes but are you going to manually downshift or let the trans do it by itself?

You can leave the system armed and put another switch in series with the WOT switch and mount it on the steering wheel like I do then after you downshift just manually push the button with you hand still on the wheel to activate.

That's a great idea. Do you have any pics of your button the wheel? By the way, thanks for all the info here over the past year. Your advice and information has always been helpful. I'll be getting the nx kit based mostly on info from your past posts.

Ahhh..the joys of an auto. Reminds me of the one time I was driving 35-40 mph...floored it...thought the tranny wouldn't downshift....sprayed. Lo and behold, a split second later, the tranny downshifted to 1st and RPMs shot up to 7000...

Hmm...I've always wanted to convert the cruise control "cancel" button to the spray button...
