Okay...I bought my 97 maxima used and it shifts very hard from 1-2 and less but still quite hard from 2-3. It is most apparent in lower speeds. Could it be posible that the previous owner took out the resistor instead of putting a WOT switch? The shift from 1-2 sounds like a loud thud and a jolt forward...the mechanic at the nissan dealer said it was just because I already have 160,000 miles.

I would think you would through a code SES light if it was disconnected. Mine did.
