Air/Fuel Gauge Problems?

I hooked up my air/fuel ratio gauge last week, but it doesn't seem to be reading right so I wanted to see if I had it hooked up correctly. When I turn my key on, the meter flashes 5 times then doesn't display anything.

I have a 4th Gen, and I was told the 3 wires off our front O2 sensors go |power| |sending wire| |ground| on the plug. I tested one wire with a test light and found the power, tried testing the other wire but it wouldn't show ground out of either sensor. Does that mean I have a bad ground.

I hooked the sensor wire up to the AFR gauge and thats when I get the 5 flashes. I thought it might have been a bad sensor so I tried the second one but its doing the same thing. Could it be that I have two bad O2 sensors?

Can someone help lead me in the right direction?

i don't know what to tell you man, i took a shot in the dark when i tapped into my front O2, and got it right the first time. did you try and hook it up while the car was on? if so the light you got on your testor could be coming from the signal wire (it sends a varying power signal). I guess my only suggestion is to check the wire you thought was the power.

I think the sensor gets its ground from the exhaust system through the chassis. It is metal, threaded into more metal. So you have to make your own ground which is easy enough.

It's easier and more accurate if you run your signal wire here:

Thanks Cullen, I knew it would be easier to hook on at the ECU, but I wasn't sure which pin it was.
I assume the two pins marked in the pic are for the two O2's and it doesn't matter which one I use?

no problem. I'm pretty sure that 51 is for the front bank and 52 is for the rear, but it does not really matter.
