I too am considering a 50 shot kit made by NX due to Jime's endorsement. After havind read all the stickies, my conclusion is that if you don't abuse nitrous and take the proper precautions, it's not as hard on your car as other forms of FI. As you're a manual, you'll want a windows switch on top of the basic kit. You'll also need a gauge and a bottle warmer.

I've had my nx system for 5 months now. I've gone through approximately 20 full bottles. It is absolutely safe if used properly. Follow all of NX's recomendations and you should be fine. The only "problem" i've had so far is when I threw my switch when the tranny was still downshifting to first. I sparayed for maybe a half second while the engine was between the gears but no damage was incurred. Otherwise, all smiles while I run with vettes! Get it! NX makes an incredible product at a reasonable price. Get it!!!

i thought it was ok to have it activated between gears.... like if im auto.. i just floor it and leave it on between the gear shifts.. is that gonna hurt my engine/tranny?

It's "ok" to have nitrous spraying while at full throttle. I threw the switch a split second too quick... I was rolling along at about 8-10 mph and floored it and before the tanny had gone into first i got excited and threw my switch. No harm done it seems.

well...nos can be an exception. not that expensive and a lot of hp gain.
considering it for now, but just opening up my options.

get it youll love it. with a 50 shot you can hit it anytime you want with minimum wear and tear on the car. if you use it cautiously it will probably last as long as your car. im going 5yrs strong with the stillen dry kit 60 shot and in the summer i use it every weekend basically.

if you are planning on running only 50 shot...

do you need to change anything else in the car?
such as changing to colder spark plug?

Yes, get copper plugs for the colder spark. You won't need to upgrade the fuel pump.

do you need to go 1 step colder and copper if you are only planning on running a 50shot? or just switching to copper will be sufficient?

would a dry 50 shot be okay with stock fuel system and mevi?

the first yr i got the 60 dry kit i ran stock platinum plus four sparkplugs without a problem and with no upgrades besides the air intake, then when i went to a 75 shot i switched over to the ngk copper one step colder only because it was recommended not because i was having problems. what happens is you get used to that fifty shot and it doesnt feel that fast anymore (thats because you attract a faster set of cars)
and you up the juice to keep up and it feels good but you have to be careful beyond a 70 shot because the fuel supply has to be adequate and the car in good enough shape to handle it but a 50 or a 60 i can vouch for being a safer method with a stock fuel pump. adding a mevi or other bolt ons will also help the nitrous burn better

so copper plugs are ok to be used with 50 shot? what is the part number for ngk copper 1 step colder and how much more expensive than the bkr5e-11 copper?
Thanks.

^ I believe people pay as little as 2$ per pound up to 5$ in areas where it's harder to find. So for a normal 10lb bottle, 20-50 bucks.
