Stupid Q: Nitrous on high mile engine?

Ok this is probably a pretty stupid question, but I have a 96 i30 with about 280k miles on the clock. The engine runs great and is without any problems, but its got some damn high miles on it. I was wondering if a 35 or 50 shot would be ok every ONCE in a while. I'm not talking about going out and racing and using it 5 times a night, just every once in a while. Just looking for some extra get up and go. What do you guys think? I also would be sure to do it right, copper plugs, wet setup, and not be nitrous happy.

Do a compression check first, if it's good then check if everything else on the car is working correctly. If the car has bad compression then don't put nitrous on.
