How many spray on launch?

I was wondering If you guys spray in first gear? I can barely get traction in first NA. Maybe I cant drive, I dont know, but it hard for me not to spin. Anybody have helpful tips.

Heat up a good set of slicks real hot, and they'll hold.

Not intentionally, but my activation switch is in a bad place for me. I try and run it with the switch on and not get so deep in the throttle that I hit the WOT switch, but I always get into the spray in first, which means I move 5 ft and 1st gear is done. You should see my 2.4-2.66 60fts-but i know the performance is there when I get a 14.3@102.3 with a 2.5 60 ft. And that was before the headers and exhaust work. I just need to figure out a better method, or buy some MT slicks.

I've hit a 2.01 60 ft. on worn all season yokos and a 50-shot.

Edit: Of course, I don't have the extra grunt of the 3.5

With any shot worth the time, first gear is usually worthless unless you go to a much more complicated setup. N2O is violent by nature. It's either on or not. No in-between. Anytime you start going over like 60 shot into the 75 shot or more, you'll spin to redline if you hit it @ WOT in first.

If you have a big enough shot, it will still spin slicks. I ran with the smaller 15" slicks and it still spun them. No where near as bad as street tires, but still spun them. The slicks also killed my topend too.

hey what up matt, we gotta meet up again at e-town when the weathers right. spraying off the launch really isnt necessary because it will always give tire spin unless you have slicks. i personally dont hit the switch until i clear 2nd gear and it works for me. i have tested the out the hole launch and my numbers are very low. EX: i sprayed out the hole and ran 14.1 at 105 mph with drag radials and when i sprayed from end of 2 i reached 12.9 2 111MPH. it makes a big difference if you wait to hook up before you unleash the demons because it gives the hp a chance to grip.

Also I think 4th gens are supposed to be easier to launch than 5th gens.

Try the 235/60/15 drag radials. They're just tall enough and they hook well. M/T, M@H and BFG all make that size.

Staying on this topic, I also have a question. I am running a 75 shot on my 2k2 Auto with a NOS RPM switch... I have it setup to spray right now from 3k to 6k in every gear. With my D/R's I have NO wheel spin at all. My best to date is a 13.8 @ 102. I was thinking about changing it up to spray right out of the hole. But from some of the above posts it doesn’t seem like this change would be beneficial. Any input?

Spray from the hole man. If you can get traction mid 13s here you come.

if your auto 3,000 rpm is out the hole you dont wanna spray below that it's unsafe. you will get tire spin even with drags because i do. i have found out that if you wait instead of gunning it out the hole you get better times. you just have to practice the perfect launch. i usually spray after first to make sure i get a good grip. the only thing i would change is your window, i would spray continously after the 3,000rpm launch.

Also since you pull all the way to redline, spray till 6500 rpm.

The good thing is that when my car shifts to 2nd, 3rd, 4th it doesnt dip below 3k so with my current setup it sprays continously after 1st gear up to 6k.. But I think I will change it up to 6.5k.. That should be good for a tenth or two..

good, once your wide open you dont have to worry about not having enough fuel to spray. but if you cut it at 6,000 you will be running wihout spray for a sec and that will slow you down a lot. 13.8 is a very good time but it will get a lot better with a higher cut off point.

Thanks for all of your input.. I was happy with the 13.8 but deep down I was hoping to turn a better time.. I think this might be the key.. I will keep you posted.. Thanks again..

I used to juice a 75 shot out of the hole on M&H slicks. Best time was a 13.1 with a 1.9 60'.
