An exaust question/idea
I might get flamed, but it might work
Would I see some good gains if I mounted a remote controled "straight pipes" valve where the cat would go. Let me explain, have a buterfly valve (or something similar) welded to a straight pipe where the cat converter would go. Basically with the valve closed it would be like running a straight tube to the muffler where the cat would be, but when the valve is open, there would be a short tube that would run out and point towards the ground that the exaust could travel through. Granted it would be loud. Would I lose tons of low end torque? Would I even see great results on the top end? It just seems much cheaper (and possibly more effective) than a full system. There would be an after market y-pipe installed.
So, basically my questions, would this give benifits with a n/a engine not on nitrous, how about on nitrous?
Just curious.
