Question on Spraying

I was just curious, can nitrous be used at high speeds? Like on the highway? i always hear of people spraying on launches and stuff. But would it be safe to spray when your already going around 60mph +? or would that be a death wish for the motor?

This may sound stupid, but i havent been able to find any threads relating to this kinda question.

Its ok to spray it at 60 plus. But dont spray over 14 seconds straight.

I have only sprayed from 0 to 115 mph, that the fastest I have gone at the track. Never really tried to see what it would do on the highway. Would be interesting to take it up to say 120 on the highway N/A and then spray and see what it would do.

Thats kinda why i wana get some juice for the max. Not only to pull some decent times with my crap auto b4 i do my 5spd swap, but to get some extra pull on the freeway when i wana have some phun.

But basically it is ok to spray no matter how fast your going, just as long as you are low enough on the RPMs to not redline...correct?

Also don't spray at low rpm's in 3rd or 4th, get it up to 3 or 4k. Spraying at low rpm in hi gears is a huge no-no. Thats what blows stuff up. In 1st it doesn't matter, I hit it right from idle because the engine can rev freely but in the high gears it builds up huge pressure in the combustion chamber and just increases rpm slowly.

Although if you hit it at a low rpm in the auto it will just shift down anyway, but just to be safe don't spray until after it does kick down to a lower gear, you could possibly over rev fairly quickly under those conditions.

I have only sprayed on the highway a couple of time and when I did I was in like 3rd at about 4k wot and then hit it.

i sprayed in all gears pass 140+....i think its okay.....i been spraying for like 20k miles at 75-175 shot....i think its okay...the only mods i have is intake, clutch, straight gutted cat no piping after cat.....with punching at 2nd gear and 3rd gear down the track i can only hit 14.00@100mph because i am spinning tires on first and second......on the highway i dont spin tires....it just pulls

i see no piont in spraying in the lower gears unless you like replacing tires all the time

it ran me about 2900 bucks. im running s/c and nitrous so i try to avoid used motors. but if i blow again no more rebuilt for me i'll just buy a couple of used motors and beat em up.

so my safest bet is to spray in 3rd and 4th above 3k rpms. does the rpm range need to be somewhere on 5th and 6th, or is it ok to be in any range in those gears? more than likely i'll probably only spray in 3rd and 4th, but would like to know about it with my other 2 gears left.

for our cars 2nd and up is critical when using nitrous, you get the biggest gains from 2nd to third and should be fuel safe as long as your at wide open throttle.if you spray from third the race is basically over and if you spray from first you get no traction. i wouldnt redline out the final gear spraying though that can get kind of dangerous.
