HOLY CRAP I just sprayed!!
HOLY CRAP I just sprayed!!
OMFG!!!! Pardon the excitement but ****! I got bold today and decided to get the rest of the kinks worked out and get this install wrapped up for good. I put in the 50shot sequence of jets and the one step colder plugs gapped to .35. Since I couldn't really tell FOR SURE that it was firing right yesterday on the 30's, I did some diagnostics on the MSD window switch and found out that... if you set it as they tell you to "1" (cylinder per coil setup/distribless) you do not get the proper reading (620rpm at actually 1000rpm). I set it to "6" (Typical 6 cylinder distributor) and viola. Went out for a test drive...rolled into 3rd gear at a very low speed, floored it and flipped the arming switch at about 3200 rpm. *CHIRP* GGGOOOOONNNNEEEE!!! OMFG it was an incredible rush and was VERY noticeable on the ole butt dyno (which was puckering a bit I must admit).
I did another run starting off the same but I armed the system this time prior to hitting the 3000rpm start of the N2O window. So....2500rpm...3rd gear..going slow...arm system...dump accelerator and *CHIRP* GOOOOOONNNEEEEE at 3000rpm!!!! Made sure it shut off at 6200rpm as well. I think I finally got all the bugs worked out cuz she SCREAMED down the road.
:
The only guess I can make on the MSD setup is that we used a schematic from online to pull the tach signal. I'm thinking this is not the actual sensor voltage coming in "wire" but is the post-ecu "analog" tachometer feed. Isn't a distributed application an analog pulse signal?

yeah, I'll never foget my first nitrous time. It was a 100 shot on my 305ci TPI IROC-Z.
boy did the tone of the motor ever change. I never thought a 305 could sound like that.
BTW, do our motors have forged pistons from the factory? What about the crank?
I want to tweak that kit for use on the max.
sorry

yes they are copper one step colder. Maybe it's because I don't have a header. But I do have WAI and full MSD system(Coil, box, tach adapter, and msd digital window switch)
using 91 octane and retarding 3 degrees from stock timing.

Bro, those ****s dont retart time on our cars, they dont work. Also its your 91 octane. I run 93 octane to help with detonation. I think you should get yourself some unleaded race fuel (100+) and add it to tank to get higher octane rating.

That should answer most of your questions. I go here because I can find out more technical stuff here.

Oh man, well no wonder you can retard timing and need to run 2 step colder plugs. On our vehicals (V6) you can run on one step colder plugs upto 100 shot with no problems. Even on 91 octane fuel. I guess the I4 engines run much more timing and are more prone to detonation.
Well on the Maxima he can run 1 step colder plugs with 100 shot. But he does need a walbro 190 high flow fuel pump. Even for the 75 shot, the pump is a good idea, but he may be able to get away with the stock one. But its very sketchy.

I also dont recommend it, but our pumps are a little more powerful. But you really have to pay attention to the fuel pressure gauge, thats why I tell everyone to get walbro pump once you get to 75 and above shot.
