"Nitrous is like a hot chick with a STD you wanna hit it but you're afraid of
the consequences"

wet lots lots more

"blow the intake manifold" no this isnt F&F
ive heard of it happening but its rare and it wont happen on a small shot if used properly "above 3000rpms"

I just got my ZEX wet kit and will be starting with a 55 shot and work myself up to 75 as I get use to using the system. Always remember never to spray when your rpm's are lower than 2500k and at wide-open throttle. This ensures that you will not have excessive cylinder pressures that could cause engine damage. Lastly, only spray for a length of 15-20 seconds. Just be safe and don't abuse it or it will abuse your car. Have fun!!!

Nitrous works well, if you respect the rules. Read the forums - a lot of truths there. I'm testing my dual stage NX - 50 shot on launch, + another 75-shot when into second gear on the automatic. WOT switch on launch, a floor switch for the second stage.

Car is a 99 GXE, auto, INGEN, DR mod, 3'' Warpspeed, iridium NGKs, new KS and coils, anything else I could do to keep it together.

Last Wed, best run was:
2.122 60-ft., 13.829 1/4 ET, 100.96mph. BFG drag slicks helped, too.

Several other 14.0, 99-100 mph runs that day.

More to come.

Nice setup, I kinda have the same set up. Mine is single stage though cause I have a 99 altima. I have a floor switch where the clutch should be because I race with regular tires. I launch and press the floor switch right after the 60', I get a 2.5 60' but at least I spray in all gears, not like before just 2nd and 3rd. Tell me with the BFG's and the 50 shot on the lauch does it spin a lot?

Nitrous and Tire Spin

Answer:

Well, there's some spin- I don't hit nitrous until about half-way through first - because of tire spin. Last outing at the strip, I was trying to launch with 100-shot- now that was frightening! Massive tire spin and warpage. With 24 psi in the 255x50x16 BFG drag radials, the tires were rubbing on the inner wells on both sides.

I still see some of that with 50-shot on the launch. If I nail it on launch instead of waiting, massive spin. Now, as soon as the car goes to second, I hit the second stage, and whoo-boy, does the car jump then. The tires hold well, though. Several embarrased Chevys and Mustangs that night - and a Cobra replica that didn't catch me until the finish line...... with a 113 mph trap.

This is Heartland Park's dragstrip in Topeka KS, where they host the O'Reilly's Nationals every year, so the track is pro-quality. I ran two days after that event on Memorial Day weekend, and that track was STICKY, but I was slow..

I'm installing my Walbro 255HP and the Aeromotive FPR, then off to higher octane and larger jets. In theory, I could run two separate 150-shot nozzles, but I'm still fond of that 3.0 engine. Wish Jime was nearby - too many unknowns for me, so I make one major change at a time and then test it.

I'm running a 75 shot, but I'm scared for my engine to run on stock pump. I'll be installing a 255 Walbro pump too. I haven't done Jime's DR mod yet, but will do before next track day. Hopefully not only will it make my tranny shift faster but get rid of the slippage. Last time I ran 4 times and 3 of them the tranny slipped. Under regular driving it doesn't slip at all. It never slipped under 50 shots. I've been thinking whether to get BFG's or MT ET's and this just proves I need MT's because I want to spray right from the launch. The sooner I spray the faster I'll get to the 1/4 mile mark.

Shifting under nitrous

My '99 1-2 shift is the same under nitrous with the DR mod engaged as it is with no nitrous and no DR mod. I have converted the auto to Mobil 1 and installed a 16,000 GVW tranny cooler for luck. The 2-3 shift is crisp even with 125-shot engaged. 3-4 also happens quickly.

Is your Altima a V6? I don't remember much about the 99's. What size of MTs are you lookin at, and what size of wheels? I have 16x7.5 wheels all 'round, so it's hard to tell which tires are on the ground - all BFG T/A G-force tires, including the drag slicks.

2nd generation Altimas (including the '99) didn't have the option of a V6. Inline-4 only (KA24DE).

I have a tranny cooler installed. I'm still using nissan ATF for the tranny, got it changed almost 1 year ago. 22x8x15 seems to be popular for the altima. Altima is 4 cylender.
