Knock sensors
do our maximas have knock sensors???... i know gm has knock sensors on most of there cars. What a knock sensor does is if the ecu senses knocking in the motor it lowers the timing....ill like 2 know this cuz if we do have knock sensors then we wouldnt have 2 put our timing down cuz when the nitrous is injected the computer would sense the knocking and lower the timing....
please help me any1..

Of course our cars have knock sensors. You cannot lower the timing on the 2002's just for nitrous use, nor do you need to if you are doing things correctly. The amount the ECU reduces timing is not enough to save the motor if you start detonating from running too lean, so don't use the knock sensor as a comfort or safety point if you plan on running nitrous. Their are plenty of people here running nitrous with no issues whatsoever. Take some time to read the FAQ's, read some post, and then ask any questions that have not already been answered.

If you want to see the effect that disconnecting the KS has on a 2k2 check my thread in the 1/4 mile forum. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=426827
Basically it increased my time from a 13.8 to a 15.1.
