2000 Max..Fuel Line Questions

Hey!!

So im slowly learning all about nitrous!! im also slowly hooking up my Zex Wet Kit...although i have a question before i cut the fuel line for my fuel tee...

On my 2000 maxima it looks like i have 2 fuel lines and 2 FPR in the engine bay , one of the fuel lines looks like its going to the front 3 fuel injectors (?) and the other fuel line looks like its going to the rear 3 fuel injectors (?) IS THIS TRUE? or am i way off? Also i keep hearing that the maximas have return lines...is this true because if they do i dont think i see one... I also want to be sure which fuel line to splice into for my nitrous fuel tee??... and the last question of all...how hard is it to install an inline 255lph fuel pump?? i havent looked under the car yet...if anyone has insight on any of this let me know!!

thanks
-Anthony

I've just finished installing my NX kit so some of the answers to your questions are still fresh in my mind. The 2K Maxima has a U-shaped fuel rail and only one FPR. The fuel flow path in the engine bay is:
1) From the firewall to the Fuel Damper (looks like a FPR but is not), located on the front leg of the fuel rail.
2) Along the front bank around the IM and to the back bank.
3) Out through the Fuel Pressure Regulator located on the back leg of the fuel rail
4) Back towards the firewall.

You will know which fuel line to cut into because the high pressure side has crimped fittings. This is the line you want to splice into (between the firewall and the damper). The low pressure return line has only a hose clamp connecting it to the FPR.

As far as an in-line pump, I don't know. I'm still just using the stock pump for now. Most people seem to get the in-tank version of the Walbro high-flow pump to replace the stock unit. I would imagine it's a little more difficult to install but the result is a much cleaner installation.

FYI, I think from 2K2+ (VQ35) the Maximas no longer had fuel return lines.

The fuel pump is relatively simple to install. You just have to remove your rear seat to access the pump cover. Pay close attention to how everything is assembled so you can put it all back together correctly. Get a new sock for the fuel pump, as well as a new retaining clip. Make sure your around "E" when you do it, so you don't have to play with as much fuel. Take your time and you'll be fine.
