Its seems by the time you get in you will need a new car.

technically speaking, purging your nitrous lines is a performance practice. unloading the vapor that may build up in the lines and thereby letting full pressure liquid nitrous fill the lines shortens the time it takes for the nitrous to kick in, as it were. i suppose in really dragged out cars it might be the difference between winning/losing

i'm pretty sure that you're safe to just have it. the difference is when it comes to using it on the streets. thats when you can get in "assloads" of trouble.

Nitrous is illegal not because of what it does to your car, but because it is against the law to carry a pressurized gas in your vehicle without a permit. In order to legally have nitrous, you must obtain a permit and place the proper safety signage on your vehicle similar to the ones that you see on tractor trailers.

On another note, you wont get into trouble for just a regular traffic stop. Its only when the police search your vehicle that it can be discovered. Not much to worry about.

Yeah, that's funny.
Don't you like how nitrous companys say it's
COMPLETLY LEGAL AND 100% SMOG LEGEL.

But not if actually sprayed on the smog roller.... and the actual nitrous is illegal
to carry.

15 post here I come!

A couple of days late but I just saw this...

I can't find any section of the NYS traffic law, any page on the DMV website or the DOT saying that it's illegal to transport a 50-100lb bottle of pressurized gas in your car. I think you have to end up going to USDOT to find even a mention of a placard being required, but that's when you're transporting over 1000 lbs of the stuff...

I could be wrong though, but hopefully we'll find out either way so that there's no mis-information going around. I'm sure the guys on the SC/FI forums will be able to chime in about that...
