Gaugung interest: wireless nitrous button
Since noting that I have a wireless nitrous button on my DP setup (in the nitrous setup sticky) I have rec'd a few PMs and replies in the thread. So, instead of maintaining a pile of disconnected PMs and in the intrest of keeping chatter out of the nitrous system setup sticky I am starting a thread.
Basically I was fed up with the ugly coiled wire getting caught on/in crap while driving. It got to the point where I had to do 3-5 point turns just to park in a parking lot cause I didn't want to deal with the coil getting caught.
After a lot of searching I found a web site selling RF TX/RX "kits". These kits require soldiering components to a printed circuit board but they are super cheap, the transmitter and reciever both run on 12V and the reciever drives a standard automotive relay.
If you are adept in electronics and want to do it yourself, you can go to www.oatleyelectronics.com and order the kit. Then assemble it. It will need to be customized to make it work with the desired application. Cost is about $40 for the kit with shipping (from Australia)
If you would rather have someone else put it together and set it up for installation let me know. I will order the kit and assemble/customize it before shipping it to your address. For now, the cost will be $70 to your door. This will include a writeup for installation as well.
These kits have the capability to control up to 4 12V devices. Anyone interested in controlling more than one thing PM me with whatever info you can give and I will let you know the price. (ex, setup a second button to arm the system (yes it supports latching control)... or to purge... or control your coffee maker... or whatever)
here is a pic... there is not much to show, but I guess that's the point.

If you are interested in having a kit assembled and shipped to you please reply to this thread.

I'm interested but can't commit yet because I still need money for a bunch of other stuff first, I'd be glad to try to sell a few on E-bay for you though. I'm really interested in having you make something else for me though:
Could you possibly be able to put something togethor for me that would operate 3 relay's from my 'homelink' transmitter? Also, do you know if the homelink transmitter w/3 buttons is actually a transmitter or are there wires running through the visor that connect to a transmitter located elsewhere in the car?
I'd like to be able to use 1 button for arming, 1 for a purge, and the other one for the bottle heater (once I get one)

According to the FSM (for an 02 Maxima), the transmitter is in the visor.
I can set up two of the buttons to run in latching mode (press once for ON and press again of OFF) for the arming switch and heater... and 1 button in momentary mode (only ON while button is pressed) for purge.
Sounds like that would be a sweet setup. Good idea.

YES!!!!! That's so friggin Awesome!!!! I can't wait to tell my buddy about this one! Yeah I suspected the transmitter was in the visor meaning that it would have to be wireless. I'm selling a ton of stuff on E-bay right now and as soon as I have enough in my paypal account I'll pm you.

I have ordered the kit for KRRZ350 and am waiting for it to arrive. Due to it being the holiday season right now I don't expect it to make it here for another week or 2.
Once I get it, assemble it and test it with my homelink I will reply to this thread letting you know if it worked or not.
Thanks,
D

My current application does not use homelink. I just installed a button in the steering wheel and wired it to the transmitter. Then I stuck the transmitter to the inside of the lower access panel of the steering wheel... and spliced into the 12V cruise cont. supply wire to power it.

What I have done is use the air bag wiring. (Not a good idea if you still want your airbag.)
This wiring, like the cruise controls and horn goes through the sprial cable arrangement through the steering wheel. The horn and cruise can also be used and can be used through a switch arrangement so that no functionality is lost.

Alright, I got the kit and assembled it. It works as expected. However, I cannot get the homelink on my 02 Max to learn the signal from the remote.
Here is some info on the 2/4 channel setup:
The kit can be set up to run 2 or 4 relays independently. These relays can be set up to run in momentary or latching mode. Momentary means that the relay is only 'on' when the corresponding button while the transmitter is depressed. This would be good for spraying, purging, flashers :P and other things that require a short run-time. Latching means that the relay goes 'on' when the corresponding button is pressed and stays on until the same button is pressed again. So it can be used for things like bottle warmers, lights and things that you want to stay on for longer periods.
let me know if you have any questions.
