Want to do over 100 shot
Want to do over 100 shot
Hey guys I have been thinkin alot about what the best way to get the most HP/dollar out of my max while keeping it reliable. After playin with the idea of a turbo or super charger the numbers just didnt add up. After some more reasearch I have found that adding sleeves to the engine and increasing displacement with some forged internals should allow me to rev to around 9k rpm and get around 350hp at the crank as a conservative figure. From there I want to run a 100-150 shot of nitrous and wanted to know what the weakest parts of the engine are that would need reinforcing. I am guessing I would want to do direct port injection with a shot this big and I would also want to address the fuel concern when running a wet shot this large.
How much would running a shot like this cost?
With tuning this car should put out 500 crank hp VERY easily, and I still think it would be cheaper than doing the 4.3L stroker kit or a tubo kit.

As far as cost is concerned, most of your money will be spent on your engine work. Not too much is needed to run a 100 shot on a vq35 (can be done on stock engine).

Why don't you just drop a 3.5 in that thing, you can get them for between $800-$1000 with very low miles, and you can sell off your 3.0 to cover a tiny bit of that, hell for that price you could buy two of them and throw a 225 shot on one of them just to see what brakes!

as far as your nitrous system and the necessary upgrades you will need to safely run the shot you want, you should search this forum, there are bagillions of responses as to what fuel system and ignition system upgrades you will most likely want, and what systems you can use to easily tune and monitor your setup
also, whether you want to run direct port or not is a choice you'll have to make up front. A wet shot single nozzle system will support shots to 150 hp + safely, honestly I havent heard of any maxima detonating in cylinder 3 or 6 because it ran lean due to insufficient fuel uptake from a single nozzle wet kit or anything, so that decision is up to you.
Whatever you chose, good luck with your project!
