Retarding Timing with Nitrous

just wanted to know if anyone in the community has ever retarded there timing a degree or two when installing a nitrous kit. my friend told me that you should atleast retard timing one or two degree for every 50 horses. which makes sense to me because you certainly do not want to pre-detonate. just wanted to hear your guys's take on the whole subject especially everyone that is running a 50shot 75shot and 100shot.

thank you for your time and please don't hesitate to reply

Im also Spraying with Advance.

In order to retard timing you need to go to the dealership, and have them use the Consult 2 to retard/Advance...

I retarded my timing at the diler, it was only $86 ( hour of labor). I talk to the guy and he told me that for evrey 50 shots you need 1 degree, to run cooler detonation. but if you retare timing you loose just a bit of top end tork, it's OK you safe and you got a bottle

i run stock ecu with two step colder plugs and they are gapped at .035, i haven't had problems with pre detenation spraying 100 thus far, (except when i bogged accidentally and sprayed) but I think the best way to go about it is your spark plugs first, FP and FPR, then retard your timing... just a rookie's advice though...

K2max your boy is abosolutley correct. normally anything up to a 60 shot it isnt needed, but anything higher it is a great plus. when i ran 60 shots i didnt change anything and like i state in many post's i beat the hell out of that 60 shot, lol. now i wouldnt suggest going to your dealer to have it permanently retarded because then your car would run slow N/A as well. after going threw a couple of motors from detonation i now retard my timing for high shots. some guys use msd or some other device but i use J&S. i retard 2 degrees when i spray a 75 shot, because this helps in delaying detonation or preventing it totally. and advancing is out of the question.
