afr and dyno Qs
afr and dyno Qs
Okay so I dynoed with a 50shot and without... i got about 15hp less than I hoped, and my afr was all over the place, it started lean then by red line it was in the low 10s. I'm pretty sure it should be in the mid 11s.. Also my car ran for about an hour before the dyno, would that hurt my hp by as much as 10whp?
They used a sniffer that goes in the tail pipe, is that accurate with a test pipe (without cat)?

It should be pretty accurate if the sensor was pushed in more then a foot and you have no exhaust leaks.
Post up the sheet!
What size and brand jets were you running?
What bottle pressure?
Sounds like you have a dry kit.
Were you watching your fuel pressure?
What RPM did he spray at or when did it go lean?

it started at 14.3 afr at the beginning of the pull, thenkept dropping until it hit mid 10s at redline. i have a wet NX 50 shot. spraying after 3k. afr was actually richer when on spray, but only mid range then they end up all in the same place. mid/low 10s
I believe starting little learn is normal. My afr ratio was in the 13's then went to 10's to redline. The probe is pretty accurate if you dont have a cat. But If you do have a cat, it will read lean.
You should post up dyno sheets, you say u have an afr, is it set to stock settings? if not i suggest you do so. because the nitrous kit is meant to be used with the stock fuel pressure, thats why there is different size fuel jets for different shots.. My a/f on my 50shot dyno's were a flat 11.8, there were a couple of lean spikes that went up to 12.5 but were short.
They read my air fuel ratio with wideband, after posting yesterday I went on ebay and bought a vafc2. I'll post the graph in a sec. I was also disapointed in my na run of only 186whp and 185 tq, but I think I'm gonna blame some of it to heat soaking
I always thought that was normal because as rpms and volocity increases there's less nitrous going into each cyl yet the same amount of fuel is being delivered.
..But that's on a dry kit.
I don't know what to say on a single fogger. :-/
Maybe you're spraying in too low an rpm and there isn't enough volocity
to keep the fuel flowing, so some of fuel gets stuck on the manifold, thus
causeing a lean condition?
These are just my opinions.

oh! i think the reason for you getting richer and richer is because as you spray the bottle pressure drops, therefore decreasing the amount of nitrous. if thats not the case then the afc you ordered will be of great help. btw try not to spray while having aditives in your gas tank again!!
I know I was afraid to risk it, but I had to dyno
I went through half tank of fuel mixed with seafoam, then added 10 gallons of clean fuel before the dyno... couldnt burn the fuel in time... Thanks for helping guys.
Also, about the a/f ratio being influenced by Nitrous. I'm not sure if that's the case because the afr stays the same without spray. as protraid in run 1 (green)
