Have you been to the track with the current setup? If so what did you run?

start out with a small shot and work your way up. i had a 75 shot in my car when i ran a 13, but that was with some really crappy tires. now my car would run a 13 on a 50 shot. i think a 50 shot would do it if you can get off the line.

ok hopefully i can finish the install today. Question- how r u running ur setup? b/c i'm auto i was planning on having a toggle switch for arming, and a window switch to control when i spray so i don't hit rev limiter w/ spray and momentary switch for purge..what do you guys think?

i have a dynotune window switch. i got my arming switch inside, and the window switch works off of the tps and the rpms. it's a really nice unit. you can control two different stages of nitrous and you can also lock out the spray untill a certain gear. so when i go back to the track with my slicks i'll lock out first and let it spray in second.
i had it set up on a WOT switch for a long time with no problems. i did kiss the limiter a couple of times and it didn't cause a problem but still not a good deal.

9.6 1/8t mile? what was your trap?? what was your 60' time? i was thinking de-k would be a little quicker than that.

if your wanting deep 13's or even high 12 you going to have to spray quite a bit. i know grey99max was spraying 150 shot and his best is a 13.1xx. he's also automatic and he uses slicks.

but like others have suggested start out slow with it. i'm actually in the middle of installing my nitrous setup. i'm 5-spd though.

i'm using a MSD window switch. i'm using a mechanical WOT switch mounted to the TB. i'm using using three rocker switches and one push button for my dual purge. one switch is for the bottle hearter. the other for nitrous activation. the third to send power to the push botton for purge. i know i don't need three rocker switches...but its cool to have more things to switch! haha

good luck man. take some pictures too!

i believe my 60ft was 2.29 and trap was 72.99mph. Now this was before i messed with a/f on the vafc.

oh ok...i was just curious because i have headers and y-pipe and cold air intake and i ran 9.1xx @ 77.1x with a 2.09 60'....but i'm 5spd so i guess that would be different.

anyways....that's offtopic.

so did you figure out what you are wanting to do with your nitrous setup?

might also want to look into some slicks for the bigger shots!

when I was a auto I ran a 13.9@95mph with a 2.160ft, I did this with a dry 75shot. My mods at the time was a drop mod, mazda wheels, street tires, y-pipe, exhaust, cai and 1step colder plugs

so you should do much better than me

Are you doing the nitrous setup yourself? I want to check it out sometime since we basically have almost the same setup.

Merlyn? I'm going to have to get with you guys when I install mine soon. I'm afraid to do it myself.

no, his name is Akin. He is an electronics guru. I found everything pretty easy, but it's always nice to have someone there that knows more about that than me.

finally got it going and got to spray....i have to say i wasn't that impressed w/ a 50shot. now i didn't change my plugs nor did i gap them to .035. Tonight i put the BKR7es-11 (2 step colder) plugs in and gapped them to .035. Didn't get a chance to spray it cause it started raining. I ran it at MIR this past weekend and it ran almost as slow as N/A. I think what it was doing was blowing out the spark a little bit because the nitrous kicks on from 3000rpm-6000rpm but i couldn't feel it till about 4000rpm. My question is, because i have a window switch and WOT switch, what do you think the highest shot i could run without damaging anything?

Any reason your not spraying from the line? Also what was your time and trap speed?

uhh honestly don't know why i don't just spray off the line...anyway, yea my engine was idling for like 30 min on sat so it was already heat soaked. I was very disappointed with my time. I ran a 15.2 at 98...9.9 1/8th and 2.45 60ft. that 60ft. is my worst ever. i know it was hot as hell on sat but i figured i would run a 14.4 or faster....

IMHO you do not need such a small gap with a 50shot, I am running a .037 with a 100shot and do not get any blowout. also I think 2step colder plugs with a 50shot is over kill and you are leaving power on the table. I suggest you pull the plugs right after a nitrous run and just will give you a idea of whats going on and if the heat range if in fact too cold. and remember a smaller gap with help prevent blowout but will also effect mph

if you are getting blowout with a 50shot @ a .037gap you my friend have other problems and maybe you have a weak coilpack and it's not able to maintain voltage under high load, again read your plugs

My question is, because i have a window switch and WOT switch, what do you think the highest shot i could run without damaging anything?
with a stock fuel pump I would not suggest going past a 75shot, I have a incabin fuel psi gauge and thats when I start to notice the pump was not able to keep up

I ran a 15.2 at 98...9.9 1/8th and 2.45 60ft. that 60ft. is my worst ever. i know it was hot as hell on sat but i figured i would run a 14.4 or faster....
I think you should learn how to launch the car and lower your 60ft's n/a before you start trying to leave on the juice. it's is going to take practice, there is no better mod than time in the seat

ok i appreciate the input. i've run way better times in the 1/8th without the spray. I ran a 2.17 60ft with a 9.67 8th at 73mph. i know how to launch the car but i think i should re gap the plugs and also try spraying earlier than 3k.

The 2.4 60' seems to be one problem. Also a 98mph is 14.1-14.0 range.

yea the 2.4 sucks bad....the fastest i've run i believe is a 2.19 so yea i think it was the weather mixed in w/ a major heat soaked motor. I can't wait till the spacers come out for the dek's.....aj u know when the rcp meet date is now b/c of the postpone?

o ok...yea i can't wait....i really wanna try and get that time down to where it should be...u think spraying off the line will be more harmful on the trans? Also personally what do you think the biggest shot i could run would be without killing anything...100?

My best with drag tires 2 step colder plugs 50 shot etc...
Are you using a bottle warmer??? that will make all the difference.
you have to get that 60' time down.

what tires you running? You can have all the power in the world but without traction you got nothing!!!!

75-shot + 75-shot, on M&H 23/8.5/15 slicks. Lots of tirespin, too. Go figure - but that 3.0 combo never did hook up quite right. It liked to wrap the M&Hs around the 8" rims, but it knocked off a lot of 13.2s and 13.3s/104MPH+ runs.

Now the new cammed 3.5 with 50-shot + 50-shot seems much stronger on the ol' butt dyno on the street. I hope you do better - but yeah, you need slicks to run with the big dogs.

As long as you get the right components and upgrades I've seen up to a 150 shot sprayed into the 3.0's. Heres some good info also. http://jime.f-sw.com/carinfo.html

From experience, a 150-shot is possible, but you gotta prep a lot of things. Fuel pump, 2-step-colder plugs (side-gapped), good race gas (Sunoco_104) well-heated bottle, and a window switch for 3000-6500 (MSD 8969). Traction bars, wide slicks, an open exhaust system, and good nerves also come to mind. Be prepared to blow the engine, also.

With a single stage spraying 150-shot, you are gonna have a brutal ride when you spray - be prepared for that. I use two stages so I could stage the spray, since launching with a 150-shot at the drag strip just isn't a good idea...

I've had my 3.5 out a couple of times at the strip, spraying a 50-shot plus 50-shot, and other than no traction in first it seems to work pretty good. Still needing to build another Shift_Fast before I get serious with it. The third-gear pull is wild...
