What size shot should i run
What size shot should i run
I am thinking about adding N2O to my turbo car but not sure what size to get. I have never done turbo and N2O its been one or the other so im kinda lost. I dont want to blow up the first time i spray under boost either. Any input is welcome.
I would suggest using a 35 or 50shot and also adding a window switch, that way you can set it to stop spraying when your boost starts to kick in
for example if you start building boost at 4000rpms then have the nitrous cut off at around 4000rpms
you may also want to get a JnS or a a/f saftey switch

Well the only thing about that is i start building boost at 3100 so i wouldnt be able to spray off boost. I know a couple people that spray with boost but i just never have.
I do not see any reason you can not spray while in boost but you have to much sure your a/f is dead on and you do not exceed the tq limits of the motor at any given rpm
sorry I havn't looked into that, I was planning to spray a small shot of nitrous to get me off the line and help spool the turbo. when do you hit full boost cause thats when you want the nitrous to cut off

now as for the tq limits of a vq it's around 450, now a 50shot of nitrous at 3500rpms will make a addition 75ft lbs of tq so add 75 to how much tq your car makes at 3500rpms
example my car makes at 3500rpms makes 170lbs of tq add another 75 and that puts me at 245
so if at 3500rpms your at 5psi of boost and making lets say 220lb of tq add 75 and your at 295
here is a formula to help you figure out how much tq a shot of nitrous will make at any given rpms

i would stay with a 35 shot and maybe cut it off bout 5000rpms. you might acutally get a lil more than the 35 out of the shot because of the cooling effect the nitrous will have on the boosted air. also it wouldn't hurt to turn up the fuel pressure 2 or 3 pounds when you do spray just as a saftey measure.

ok so this is what you want to do, 1st you want to keep your a/f in the low 11's if not around 10.5 while spraying and run 93 with octane booster or some 104 race gas to be safe

Ok i understand that then. I know with the zex kit it bumps up the fp. I have always used dp kits so this will be the first time to use one with a turbo.
he would better off changing the fuel jets cause if he bumps up the fuel psi it will throw off his turbo a/f ratio and he will retune the whole setup
No matter what i do it will be a wet kit. I am torn between a direct port and just a fogger. I have always love my direct port but dont know if i want to spend the extra money and time. I havent even looked at my manifold to see if i can run a direct port system. I am pretty sure i can fab it up some how and would be better than just a single fogger.

but when you start adding up the price for part it's like
then
but thats just me cause I'm broke right now got to finish up some of my projects
Direct port you can almost (well i would say better than a single fogger system) make sure you get the same amount of fuel and N2O to each cylinder since they each have there own nozzle. Its a liol more pricey but it makes me feel safer thats all. O and its more stuff to hook up also since on ours it would be 6 nozzles.

Maybe if the nozzles were far away from the intake valve, the concept would work OK. But I've always felt that spraying through the TB was the best way to stir in the nitrous - sure works good in my 3.5 with SSIM, just like the 3.0 and MEVI.
And it would look cool on a 3.0 intake - but looking again at my 3.5, wow, that could get complicated, and duplicating spraying two or more stages would be impossible - you'd have to resort to pulsating solenoids. Ah, nothing's as simple as it should be...
Well i had my setup with a boost switch, so that when i would get 5psi the nitrous would turn off. basically i had it turn on as soon as i went WOT. i did this both with 35 and 50 shot. there was no difference, and i could never get better than 2.0 60' on slicks, because the nitrous would spray for such a short time. I also ran the 50shot without rpm switch ontop of my 10psi (312whp), and the car ran fine, no knock. I had an encounter with an evo as well, that time was at 35shot, and helpd me get up to him and ahead. basically the key is to have your a/f in the 10's, make sure ur getting cool air in there, this was also while on meth/water injection so my cooling was taken care of. With 35 or 50shot, in first two gears is basically useless on my auto so probably even worse on a 5sp. the torque output of nitrous is almost twice the hp gain like t6378tp said. i Dynoed a 50shot when i was n/a, i put out 217whp and about 240something TQ. so on a turbo car plus nitrous, its a hell of alot of torque. I wouldnt go over more than 50shot unless your HLH and want to put out over 500 lol but im sure that will last you about a week lol
This is how I had mine mounted.

I have seen FI cars almost double the power of their N20 shot. So start with a 35 and work your way up..
Here is something else you could consider. Jwt make an FI N20 program.
