FS: Gaming Computer
FS: Gaming Computer
Price is 415$ Shipped.
I have recently built a brand new computer, and because of this, I don't really have much use for this particular computer. It is fully capable of running the latest games and programs. It is a great computer for pretty much whatever you want to do with it. It was built for gaming, but can easily run Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, etc. The computer has the following components in it:
* AMD Athlon 3700+ (Fastest Socket 754 Processor available) with upgraded CPU Cooler/Fan
* 1.5GB PC3200 RAM
* 2x Western Digital Raptors (37GB each) - 10000RPM Hard drives (Faster than regular hard drives which are usually 7500RPMs) - Perfect for RAID0 Array
* 1x Maxtor 200GB IDE Hard Drive
* ATI Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition AGP Graphics Card (256MB of Video RAM) - Fastest AGP graphics accelerator, I believe
* OCZ Technologies Modstream 520W Power Supply
* Sony 16X DVD +- RW DVD Burner
* Antec Super LANBoy Case (lightweight, relatively portable)
* ABit NF8 Socket 754 Motherboard
This computer comes fully assembled and ready to go out of the box. I have included pictures of the computer up and running, I apologize for the poor Windows XP Screenshot--I'm not sure why it turned out fuzzy. I will ship the same day payment is received (if possible). Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Shipping and Handling is set at $50 flat fee (includes freight, packaging materials, insurance)
I will also include the Windows CD, but the computer is ready to go out of the box.
This build/computer has run the following games/software (among others) with no problems:
Windows XP Professional Edition
Oblivion
Microsoft Office 2007
Age of Empires 3 (Max Settings)
Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2142
Guild Wars (Max Settings)
World of Warcraft (Max Settings)
Call of Duty 2 (Max Settings)
Quake 4

The ATI Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition is not the fastest AGP card...sorry
Also i believe you may have made a typo about the raptor drives....WD does not make 37 GB raptors..its not cost efficient...they make 74 GB Raptors, and 150GB Raptors

yea but HOW LONG DID THEY stay in production....NOT very long. No body wants a 36 GB hard drive especially not in a RAID 0, 1, 5 OR EVEN 1+0 configuration...I had a typo of my own....my statement corrected is "WD does not make 37GB raptors any longer", fact is no one wants a 36GB sata drive and WD realized that
Fair to say. I consider "pretty current" to mean "still being sold and not outmoded yet". Obviously you have a different definition, which makes sense (especially in the computer industry).
So, if you knew these drives were around, what did you mean when you said the OP must have made a typo in the size of the drive?

to answer your question, i thought he made a typo based on his current configuration, when the 36 GB raptors were released, the socket 754 based processors were not around yet. I was under the assumption that he was getting everything as close as possible to his current configuration, so when i read the configuration of the machine i expected to read 74 GB raptors , because thats what was OUT, or HOT on the market when DDR400-PC3200 was top of the line RAM
The cpu is still pulling in a premium. It can be sold for about $150 on eBay believe it or not.
Who would buy it for that much when you could get a E6400 c2d for less though
.
Check out the completed listing for the 3700+ Clawhammer 754, people are still looking for them

ok, socket 754 IS OBSOLETE meaning AMD is not making any more chips for them..Athlon 3700+ for 150 from ebay....MAN you can pickup a 3700+ FROM ebay for 50-80 bucks!
also it depends on what your looking for to make you wanna go AMD or INTEL, Me personally im an INTEL GUY

Ok, been out of town. basically, everything that is listed works just fine and this thing plays games great and does whatever else you need. Now, with the new DX10 out if definately won't play those DX10 games. But if yall want, I will take some pics of the mobo so you can see the set up.
And I believe I have a buyer. but if that falls through I will part it out. I will let you know.
Overall this is a pretty cool computer for a good price and very reliable and fun.
