anything that would work with my HP Laptop and give better MIDI sound. I use MIDI pretty extensively as a hobby, and my onboard MIDI sucks donkey kong ****. I was very impressed by the Audigy SE in my desktop, but I wanted to get something more "portable". And yes, I'm aware that the Extigy is not so much portable, but i don't really need it at school. anyway...

If you don't have one, but know what would get the job done, feel free to throw in your .02!

update. just won an eBay auction for a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX bundled with Zalman 5.1 surround headphones. 92 bucks. not bad.

 

I have a zalman USB 5.1 soundcard in excellent condition. i used it for my old laptop with ****ty sound card and it was perfect. It even has optical out. Not sure if you'd still want it, but if you do I can ship it to you for $30.
