That looks really good! Which leds did you use? Did you put the leds in the stock bulb locations?

what would you charge me to do the same to my cluster, cc and door controls? pm me please

Its to time consuming and I don't have the time so I wouldn't do these for anyone. Check around though, there are plenty here on the Org that would do these for you.

I was doing it for a bit but I'm back to work now and I'm finding it too time consuming. maxed95 is the last guy I did it for.

Sorry, there are guys that would do it I'm sure, and perhaps I'll do it down the road again or if things slow down for me.

Ok, so some people tell me to paint my stock bulbs and others tell me to just get led bulbs. What's the difference and whats the costs difference?

If you go with LED SMT bulbs the lighting will be superior to any incandescent light bulb. You may find some cheap on ebay if you search around. Some of the LED bulbs can be expensive on Vleds.com and may not yield the results you are looking for.

Don't paint the stock bulbs, over time they will just fade and you will be unhappy with them. In addition, they will never give you the output of the SMT LED bulbs.

In summary, painting stock bulbs will be the cheaper way but will give you lousy results. In the other hand, LED SMT may cost more, however, you will get the results you are looking for. They have plug and play SMT bulbs for the gauge cluster. Search around and see what others have used.

I have the same lights that tigersharkdude used. Mine's a 97 GXE....holy crap these are SUPER bright! My eyes still hurt an hour later after making the mistake of directly staring at the dome one when I was sitting behind the wheel.

yeah I'm out of the game (customization side). Selling the drop in bulbs for the 95-97 very cheap, only have white though, but they're crazy bright and produce no hotspots.

just painted my bezel today. i may paint it a shade of blue so when i get the blue bulbs, it will match the rest of my interior. and the blue interior has a 9" strip of leds under dash on each side and 2 blue led bulbs i soldered into the wires for the map light.

Placing the LEDs for the needles was a PITA, I am somewhat pleased with how they turned out, though I might pick up a spare speedo to tinker with and find the best fitments of bulbs.

Going to go see how well white LEDs show up in the speedo cluster now and also gonna tinker with the map light with a 10mm LED More soldering... ugh

Have 1 white LED in the window switch. I am loving how all this is turning out overall. Im using 5mm LED all around.

Come to find out the Neo-5 bulbs fit. I ordered the NEOx-HP cool white bulbs, came to like $14 shipped for 5 (4 behind faces, and one behind odometer). All in all Im pretty happy minus the fact they look soft blue through the faces, and they are a little hot right where the bulbs are, BUT if you are like me and not the most electrically inclined person and dont like wiring, then this is your answer.

Also the needles are much clearer in person, i just had my white balance off slightly to pic up the true color of the LED's

In the this thread there are some good pics of people using these bulbs, check it out if you're looking for 98-99 LED's

They will always appear bluish because of the bluish tint film behind the gauges. There is a thread somewhere about this for the 5th gen gauges. Orger by the name of Metal Maxima I think.. anyway he removed the film with paint thinner or something to get the true color of the bulb to shine through the gauges.

But this was done on a 5th gen AE cluster, Im not sure if anyone has attempted this on a 4th gen cluster.

The placement of the LEDs is much easier with the 98 99 digital cluster. I agree, with the analog cluster the analog speedo head is so tough to work with since there really isn't room to get a perfect fitment of the LED behind the needle.. The result will be half the speedo head lighting up as well as the needle. Looks corny in my opinion. Thats why I swapped to a 5th gen AE cluster.. much more potential there to mod them with LEDs.

Map/Dome light

Hey I have a 95 maxima and was wondering where could I find led lights for my map and dome lights? I looked everywhere and can't seem to find ones that fit. Any ideas? And my dome light ain't working properly nomore. The light no longer turns on when I open the door. Only time it comes on is when I switch it to the on position.

How did you make that maxima step purple? It's and actual light or is it just reflection? And if there's is anyone in the DC/Maryland area capable of doing all of this LED to the interior stuff please let me know I would like some assistance. Or for you to do it for me lol.

I have LED's in my gauge cluster (blue) too, and can barely see the needles at night. What did you do so you can see them? Mine are orange.

umm its just a light underneath it. purple/uv led strip. only turns on when the doors are open. i custom made the door step. cutting out the middle section, filling it in with frosted plexy glass then overlaying everything with the fake M3 cf vinyl. i cut out the makima lettering by hand and thats how its made.

lol, silly guy! you cant have more than one type of ac on at a time! he cant do feet only + head only + feet and head!

EDIT: figured id upload my pics from todays project. did all leds in the switches. also converted over the bulb behind the [on] on the cruise control switch, and the led from red to blue in the security.

heres what i used for the cruise control and the security light. I did blow one up on the cruise control since the little switch kinda touched the wrong contact... hard to explain...

here is the rear window switch from my 99. started life as a tiny 1mm flat square led. converted it over to the 3mm dome. the closest surface contact and the diagonal one behind it are the only two you need to use. the ones of the right and left are for the square leds with two diodes in them.

heres my super solder skills on the main window switch... looks like factory huh!?

and heres the top of the main switch
