PB blaster if you feel the need, but it's a huge bolt, I would be surprised if you broke it.
Just get some leverage on it.

It's gonna go "SNAP!!!" when it finally lets loose. You will probably have a mild anxiety attack when this happens the first time thinking you sheared it off, at least I did. You will need a cheater pipe on your ratchet, a breaker bar or a long 1/2" drive ratchet. I'd stay with a 1/2" drive here as a 3/8" probably won't get it.

I don't think it will make a difference, but do it if you want.

I am not sure how running the car for 5 minutes will help. Soak with PB blaster and then try to take it off with 1/2 inch ratchet and 6 point socket. If you need get a breaker bar or a pipe over the ratchet.

Make absolutely sure you use a 6 point socket.

I understood your thought process. When a bolt is being a ****, I sometimes blast it with some MAP gas.

For future reference add a tab of anti-seize compound to the mounting bolts when you re-install it.

The bolt was really tight when I did mine too. A 1/2 drive breaker bar did the trick.

theyre usually tight, ive never broken one. just get yourself a 15 inch breaker bar ratchet, one had on the end of the ratchet then bump that hand with the other in a quick snap and itll let go

dont screw around with a little ratchet forever, that point you risk rounding the bolt then its a nightmare. one quick hit is all you need

When i took off the starter i noticed alot of corrosion on the conections, thinkin that was it i took it apart and greased it while it was out (didnt touch elec. motor half) and before i put it back in the car i used jumper wires and the gear comes out but it doesnt spin now..it was startin car before, just slow sometimes....it should spin also right?? why would it start the car before but now, not spin with jumpers?
never greased a starter before...allways just changed em

if you are jumping power to the starter solenoid from a booster pack or whatever, it should indeed spin
