Gas pedal hack for ae pedal fitment

Hey guys,

Is it a bad idea to hack off the metal plate off the gas pedal assembly to make the AE pedal fit.

Any feedback will help.

Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the AE pedal or the plate you mean. There's not too much to a pedal though. If yours doesn't have the plate then it should be fine.

Can you post a pic of the pedal and the plate?

if you see behind the pedal pad, there is a metal plate welded in 2 spots.

let me know what you think.

Why not just get an AE pedal?? Must be some at your local junk yard.
Like it PROBABLY would work but you are still taking the pedal out to cut off the plate/pad area then put on the ae no?

You have to hack it off! The AE pedal might be a little loose but you'll figure it out one it's on there trust me! Not that big of a deal

I'm not sure if this is going to help you out or not, but I used this thread when I installed the AE pedals in the max.

ive checked for specifically AE maximas at my local junkyard but have yet to see one. most likely I will cut the plate off to make the AE pedal fit.
thanks for the response.

thanks for the response man. I will definitely cut it off to get the AE pedal in. I've read on the threads that I can roll up some electrical tape around the pedal rod to keep the pedal snug and from moving.

thanks for the thread man. but it looks like the pedal rod you have did not come with the plate, therefore the AE will fit and not cutting is needed. but I will also try cutting the plastic pedal to get the round part out to fit in the ae pedal. thanks for the idea.
