I did a search, looked in the Engine section BUT i can't seem to find a thread on Changing Cats in the 5th Gen? Not sure how to do this job and i know there are 2 cats (front and back).
Can someone direct me to a thread that covers changing the Catalytic Converters in the 5th Gen Maxima?
BTW: I'm in Florida and we have no inspections here...SO, i'm not sure if I even need them???
A lot of young clowns on this forum. Ignore them as they would have you swapping motors and lowering suspensions for no reason....other than to **** away $.
If you do a search on "catylitic"....youll find your answer.
Nice. Very helpful. He did say he searched. Some are better than others at searching, maybe.
I searched, too. I was looking for test pipes for the pre-cats. No results. As FlaMark and peeshooter said (thank you), gut the pre-cats. That's now my Plan "A".

B/c there are no test pipes for the precats. That should be pretty obvious why there's no results. Even if search isn't working well on this site, then use google. There's been tons of precat threads and several have been VERY recent.

Man, I guess every board has one guy whose sole mission in his online life is to be a jerk to the new guys.
Yeah man...it sure would be nice to find a diagram and # of hours to do this job. ---->Now i'm thinking "headers" are the way to go (based on what i've read so far).

You need access to a lift, especially for the rear cat. And a breaker bar, Liquid Wrench, extensions, swivels, and a full afternoon at least.

Why don't you do a bit more searching?
Try this: https://maxima.org/forums/search.php?searchid=4222912
This is a shorthand for gutprecat search, in titles only; it will give you 13 threads discussing the subject.
I did headers instead of gutting, i did it all by myself and it should take like a full day 8-10 hours and thats with me having already taking of the y pipe rust. Its a pretty easy process headers are $500 and worth it you can do everything from under the car and will only need o2 bolt plugs and extend the wores buly cutting the harness and making them come out in a more ideal spot.
