Hey guys I'm new on here but I am putting a 12" Subwoofer and a 1000watt amp in my maxima SL with Bose audio System. After the shop installed it I am get a ton of feedback. they have used different parts, moved the jacks, but nothing will get rid of the feedback. It will happen while idle, when I push the gas. Will stop if I open a door or put the windows down. Has anyone had this problem? Been looking online but haven't found a maxima with a bass system yet. Help

 

Could it have something to do with the Active Noise Cancellation which is standard on SL and above trims? I'm not sure of all the details on how this works other than it uses the Bose audio system and speakers to eliminate unwanted noise. Maybe this is deactivated when the door or window is opened...but I don't know for sure.

 

Maybe it is not grounded properly???

Yeah sounds like a grounding issue to me. I would bring it back to whoever installed and have them fix. If they can't, you may want to get a second opinion from another audio dealer / installer.

 

I talked with a car audio shop a few weeks ago and they said cars with active noise cancellation (ANC) can get false correction when adding a sub. Most systems allow the user to turn off the ANC. Look in the manual to see if you can turn it off. If it sounds better... that's your answer. If not, it is likely a grouding issue.
Anyone know if the ANC will work when modding the engine (intake, exhaust, etc.)?

 

Just had my amp and sub installed tonight and the active noise cancellation reared its ugly head. My shop needs to find out how to disconnect/deactivate the interior microphones. They said the have seen this this on several luxury models, but did not have the maxima specs readily available. I need to give them a few days with Christmas upon up to get the specs. I'm am not worried, yet...

It does work I went back to the dealer a drove a base model maxima to get an idea of the difference when I was thinking about disconnecting the mics then someone posted this on facebook. I turned the cancelation system of and drove around a little and the difference is not really noticeable. My 12s work perfect now

 

So to install an aftermarket sub and amp you have to disable the noise cancellation in some cases? That's a shame. Seems like it would cause more road noise inside the cabin.

 

Its not much of a difference plus if your putting subwoofers in your car when are you going to really hear road noise?

 

like putting mudding tires on a truck and not wanting to get them dirty with mud.

 

I heard from another user on here:
1. Turn off your radio
2. Press and hold the "Menu" button while spinning the volume button
3. Scoll down to ANC ANS feature.

I have done this and will be installing my amp and sub soon as well. Hope this actually helps.

I did and it worked. I installed everything, forgot to turn the ANC off and heard that horrible feedback. Immediately turned it off and it is fine now.

 

You turned off the ANC through the secret menu?

 

Yep, I installed a JBL self powered sub enclosure in the trunk and I have to disable the ANC every time the battery is pulled or fuse blows, as it is enabled by default. Without disabling it, the sub goes ape**** even without the radio on. I tested it out several times but couldn't tell any perceivable difference between having it on or not, especially if there is any other sound in the car like the radio.

 

I'm having a hell of a time with this little box..... Everything is hooked up and this box is kicking my ****. Where did you/y'all install yours?

 

I'm also about to tackle this. I'm thinking of wiring the line out converter in the trunk but not sure if I should do it before the factory Bose amp or after. If before, anyone know the colors for the +/- and L/R at the amp

 

Here's some pics of what I did.. note I tapped the speakers directly, the bose system uses weird voltage for their speakers and such, so I put it behind the amp.

Drilled a hole there for the ground (black wire with yellow near tip)

 

Might be a dumb question but instead of making a new thread. Does the stock Bose sound system in this car include a factory sub hidden some where?

Ah that is a bummer. What is so premium about the factory sound then? Just because it says "Bose"?

 

Nothing premium about the Bose system compared to what I've heard in other cars with premium sound systems. The Bose system is my biggest disappointment with the 2017 Platinum.

I'm still disappointed with the Bose system but the sub has helped a lot.
Next on my list is a new Tesla style stereo with RCA outputs.

 

What color are the positive and negative wires at the rear speakers. Is there a wiring diagram. I'm going to tap in at that point to feed my line out converter.

 

All that stuff is way over my pay grade!! Looks bad *** though. But in all honesty, what does having the sub woofer do for the overall sound of the system since it seems you left the original Bose speakers in place.

 

Bump for the +/- wiring for the rear speakers in the Bose system. I'm gonna tackle installation this weekend.

I followed the wire from the hood release lever. It goes behind the drivers side front tire. You have to take the plastic wheel well off to snake it through.

 

If you remove glovebox there is a grommet up and slight right that passes through the firewall. There was a thread on it but I can't seem to find it. If you search 7th gen it's in the same spot. Kind of a pain to get up in there if you're a bigger guy but that's where I ran my 4ga, probably won't get any thicker wire through there though. Wasn't too hateful, just will use a bit extra wire running it through eng. compartment to battery on drivers side.

 

Which side is best to run the power wire driver or passenger side. ? Also where is a good place to get amp turn on?

 

Get you one of these, you don't need a remote turn on wire. This LOC will sense speaker signal then activate it's own remote on to hook up to the amp. Best LOC I ever purchased. Actually used it to replace a cheap $15 one I had that lost a channel. Sound quality went up about 3X in my layman opinion. Same amp, same woofer, considerably more/clean punch. Seriously the best piece of gear I've ever used.

BTW, that LOC does require power too, but you just run a thick line to the AMP from the battery, run a smaller gauge wire from that power connector on the amp to the 12v on the LOC, and of course ground both. Then leave the "remote In" on the LOC empty, just run another smaller gauge wire from the "remote out" to the remote on at the amp. When the stereo goes off the amp shuts off in maybe 3-5 seconds after. I was floored how nice that was, 30 years of putting bass in cars, I can't believe I never went this route. It was a "where have you been all my life" moment, good thing I was alone...


Edit: Oh, and Instant on too...it's not like you get all the highs then the bass kicks in a few seconds later, by the time the radio is playing, bass amp is already on.
