Anchor 9031 Passenger Side Engine Mount

I ordered one of these from Rock Auto and attempted to install it yesterday. No go:



The top hole on the mount is off by about 1/4 inch. I measured it in comparison to the original mount. It's definitely off.

I called Rock Auto and Anchor and they both thought it had to be a one-off defect. So I went to O'Reilly and looked at one of theirs. Same exact part, same problem (O'Reilly's cost $85, Rock Auto $21!).

Looking for a replacement that will work. I think the Beck/Arnley will fit but it's 2X the price.

Maybe this will save someone else some grief.

If you still have the original mount, I have a spare set of the poly Wrayth inserts that I can sell you. You simply cut out the original rubber insert and metal retaining ring, press the Wrayth insert in, and reinstall. Pretty easy really, for a better end result.

This is an easy fix. Widen the hole on that side and use a washer...
I fail to see the problem.

An insert is definitely better.

I strongly suspect this mount will fit - if you lift the engine and/or the body just a bit.

I used this same mount on my car and it fitted fine. However, I haven't done the work myself so I can't provide a better tip on how to make it align.

Sure, I could open the hole up, but I really didn't want to.

I posted this hoping it would help others who are looking for an easy drop-in replacement. The 9031, is NOT that.

I agree, inserts are likely the way to go.

It looks like the right part # for the 2002 SE.


the Anchor company has two separate part numbers for that one for this 2001 GLE.

The anchor for the A/T is 9251?
I havnt read any other reviews claiming the 9031 is defective.
You sure you didnt have minor front end collision damage?

I'm not sure what the Anchor part number is for the A/T. Check Rock Auto.

I agree, I was surprised that I couldn't find any other complaints about the 9031. I thought everybody would be complaining about it. Maybe they had a bad run of them.

I definitely have never had any front end damage. I am 10000000% positive that the hole on the top of the 9031 was out of place (see the original pics above).

I tried two different 9031's from different sources and both were the same. Then I tried a couple other aftermarket mounts that fit perfectly.

I ultimately ended up gutting my factory mount and put in a polyeurethane insert from Knight_YYZ. I did the same for the A/T mount. I used ES inserts for the front and rear mounts and am very happy with the results.

I'm not sure and haven't looked at my car, either, but something is most definitely messed up, unless the OP ground on the hole. It looks out of round and jimmied up.

I've spent years in metal stamping and both those holes wi!l be pierced at the same time and the other one looks fine so why it looks the way it does, I don't know. It looks as if the punch in the die was missing and they drilled it out poorly and out of location.

Looks like crappy manufacturing from what I can tell.

The OEM Nissan mounts have the metal pieces in them for some reason.
The Beck Arnley is an imitation that looks identical but is missing the metal.

i've gone through 2 sets of aftermarket mounts and got the 3rd I was going to use.
All of them are made differently. Different molds and materials.

Get OEM mounts for sure. idk how much they are though. :/ $$$$.

Id keep an eye on it over the next few years.
Ive had cheap parts fail literally weeks after installing them!
#1.Intake boot - currently beginning to crack through just one year later.
#2.High pressure p/s hose - leaking has to go back under warranty just one year later.

Its most likely already been covered here

#1. The Anchor mounts are SBR-(styrene butadiene rubber)which is what the OE is.

Just began to torque this down to the 35 ft lbs and the mount cracked!
Anchor only offers a direct replacement but its too cheap to even torque down!

I would only suggest OES Genuine at this point!

You installed this a week ago and just today torqued it down?

Yeah i had to remove it because someone snapped the head of the bolt from the Alternator upper bracket. I had to jack up the motor get it drilled out.
I just thumbed the bolts back in to slip my jack out so no one stole it.

Ill send it back in under warranty and go for another one until I get the other mount I posted. I guess well just go to 30 lbs

can not say yet make a long story short im still trying to put this alternator back in.
I can tell you that the motor sits up a few inches higher with the new mount. When I went to slip the jack under the car with the new mount it made clearance with the plywood. After breaking the replacement mount i reinstalled the original mount and i was barely able to slide the jack under with the 5/8 piece of wood.

Installed anchor brand passenger side engine mount. Same issue, top bracket hole is off by 1/4 inch. Might have to try another brand, smh.

Yes. I measured original vs anchor mount, the distance of the hole is off by 1/4 inch.

Another Fail. I have a 2002 automatic SE. Ordered SKP mount for auto transmission from rockAuto, center hole measurements are wrong just like the anchor. Do I need the manual trans mount?

I ended up going with polyurethane mounts all around on my car. Glad I did, but that's beside the point.

I thought I was going to have to wait a long time to get the side inserts from Knights_YYZ so I got a Febest mount to hold me over and it fit just like an OEM.

Fit and finish was great and it looked exactly like an OEM mount as well.

However, I have had TERRIBLE luck with the other Febest parts I have used, specifically strut boots. They barely lasted 4 months before completely falling apart. Since there is rubber in this mount I don't know if I can recommend it because it appears that Febest hasn't quite figured out how to make rubber that lasts more than a week.

Thank you for the heads up on Febest rubber boots. Sorry to see you have had so much trouble with mounts. I actually have a new set of Febest boots in the box that I will not be using. It's a shame a nice looking product just doesn't hold up. As a side note, I installed OEM boots on my 99 model just over three years ago. Unfortunately, those boots look to be shredded on the side that faces the engine compartment. So I will be replacing them and the AGX in a few weeks.

As for side engine mounts, I also have a set from Knights_XYZ that will be installing when the old ones wear out.

Glad you found this informative.

I couldn't agree more, the Febest product looks great when you get it. Even has great packaging. But the rubber itself is just awful. It's really too bad because the price is great! New OEM rear boots are about $50 each now!

I also have 4 new Febest boots sitting in boxes that I won't be using. They sent me replacements, but there's no way I would put them on only to have to do the job again in 4-6 months.

For anyone else who is reading:

I strongly recommend that you NOT use Febest boots. Total garbage.

As for going with Knight's poly inserts, they're great. I can't recommend them enough. I also used ES poly inserts for the front and rear mounts. Since I have an autotragic, I bought a Febest front mount and gutted it since the ES inserts won't fit in an automatic mount. Lilke I said before, the Febest housings are really nice but the rubber portion, not so much.

OK after cracking the 9251 I did order 9031 and just got it.

I did put this in today and it was a good fit!
The bolt hole was a bit rough the threads were a bit dull so the bolt was a bit tough going in but overall good fit I'm happy!
