Do you know if you can get these installed at the dealer on a lease? I'm assuming you can since it's not really damaging the value of the car but I am interested on my SR putting some of the accent lighting in.

No problem to get this done on a leased car though that improvement must stay with the car at lease termination

They only look really bright when the car is sitting in a very dark area. Also, be sure the lenses on the lights are clean. Things underneath the car sometimes tend to get dirty. There may be a few folks here who have upgraded the bulbs in their undercar lighting. If so, maybe they will pop in on this thread.

i called up 2 local nissan dealerships today and got quoted $250 and $320 to install the external ground lighting...FML. I've already bought the part but not looking to pay a arm and a leg to get it installed. That is ridiculous.

i might give give it a try. I printed out the instructions the other day. I have some electrical experience as well with hooking up audio systems and such. Did you need the additional harness they said may be required? I have the SR model.

The you have the illumination kick lights? If you do don't need that plugs, they call accessory plugs you need to and they plug on the foot kick panels

I am thinking about getting this kit and installing myself. I am not sure if I need the harness that I see might be required. My car DID come with illuminated kick plates (letters MAXIMA light up) and it DID NOT come with the color changing interior lighting. Just trying to figure out if I need to get the extra harness.

Thanks

Well I got the kit and install them today. Yes, because I had that illuminated kick plates the harnesses were already there and I did not need to buy them. The install went pretty easy except in the instructions it tells you to remove the glove box. I could not get it to come out after removing all the screws. But since my hands are not the largest, I was able to reach underneath up and get the connector to disconnect it. Pretty happy how it came out.

I just bought a 2017 Platinum Maxima and I THOUGHT it came with the ambient lighting in the floor and cup holders...I see it in the trip but its not there...I was told that you can't get it installed later but you just gave me hope!!!

In the Madallion package. Not sure if you can get it ala carte.

Has anyone installed this kit on a 2017 or 2018 themselves? I just bought a 2018 Platinum and was looking to install this. Its only listed as an accessory on the Nissan parts site for 2016, not 2017/2018. But you can still order it with the car from the factory. Did something change?

Was thinking about buying the kit for the 2016 and make it work. Just don't feel like being the guinea pig

I did my external lights on my 207 Platinum. Was pretty easy.
Like I said earlier in this thread, I had the illuminated kick plates so I didn't have to purchase the harnesses. getting the glove box was the hardest part. I could not get it to come out after removing all the screws. But I was able to reach underneath up and get the connector to disconnect the Harness. Although, I installed an amp after the light kit and then I was able to remove the glove box. Just have to give it a good tug.
Here is a link to Nissan's instructions for installing accessories. Just put in the info in the search criteria, and then you can print up the instructions.

Can you control the dim levels on the lights? For instance I'd like to have it match the brightness of the ambient lighting.

i had it installed on my 2016 maxima ,it was fantastic for the first year then salt and water got in to the system under body . i had it installed by a certified nissan dealer and i guess they did a bad install . cost me $500 canadian and they said oh well you need a new one . my advice is make sure the install is done by someone whos done it before and that the wires are sealed properly . ps, nissan refused to fix or replace the system . they dont back their add ons .

Well, I'd still go after them on the lights. My 2016 and 2019 Plats have gone thru much foul weather and still work great. I do clean the downward-facing lenses every couple of months with a wet rag.

Do you know how to change colors on the exterior lights. Mine were white and I had to have work done and they are blue. It’s cool blue but would prefer the white
