Depends on piping and turbo, whether you have a resonator installed, and what choice muffler you have.

Before my Maxima went to the shop for the built engine project, I had 3" piping from the downpipe all the way to an Apexi N1 muffler. I put the silencer tip on, but it was still really loud. I took the silencer off, and I couldn't hear my radio cranked up over the drone of the muffler.

So it depends. Yup. Personally, I like the hiss of BOVs more than the sound of the muffler.

I just want to know if superchargers/turbochargers effect exhaust note AT ALL. Obviously they make a distinct sound in the engine bay but how would it effect exhaust in anyway? No one has responded seriouesly in my thread, just jeff making fun of me.

My exhaust is WSP Y --> stock cat --> 2.5" bpipe w/ 20" glasspack resonator -->flowmasters 80-series (2 chamber) camaro style muffler w/a 2.25" pipe running around the tire well. Mine sounds very nice, and I know Nismo2020's is much louder. Sounded like it was straight piped in that racing video of you at the track...

oops, I meant straight piped as in no mufflers, cats or resonators from the headers onward, just a pipe.

That would make sense since the turbo runs off the exhaust. Can the same be said about the supercharger even though it runs of the belts?

It smells like.................VICTORY!

Yeah, like mentioned, the turbo actually quiets the exhaust.

What about the Supercharger? What does it do to the exhaust, oh magnificent one?

V1 is loud as hell. It's louder than the exhaust. V2 dunno. But since a SC is NOT technically part of the exhaust system...............

I've heard ereet's V1 and it is super loud. Even from a distance.
After briefly reinstalling my rebuilt V2 blower in Sunday night I had to strain my ears to hear it.

Geez louise Craig....you still hung up on about this?

After putting in a straight through Vibrant muffler I get a nice rumble at idle. It gets rather noisy inside while on the pedal and rpm is between 2500 - 3000.

Well I am happy to announce that I am getting a V1! Coolkids's V1 is the Gen-1 so it's the loudest of them all.

And seriously, even with my exhaust, do you think I will hear the V1 over it? I heard that when you accelerate, the loud V1 sound vanishes and you get a extremelty quiet sound, almost like stock. If so, that sucks..you guys would know better then me though, is that true? And regarding the SC not being related to exhaust...well since the SC is pushing more compressed air into the engine, that means more air is being pushed out the exhaust correct? Wouldn't that have an effect on anything?

Woooo! When are you getting it? Btw, what kind of exhaust do you have?
I take it you like lots of noise...

I've got my Budget Y-pipe under my desk at the moment...just itching to put it on after I reinstall the SC for the 3rd time and hopefully the last time.

Well, he wanted to make sure I am getting it, and I am, so he will be shipping out tommorow. I hope 2-day air or whatever, I'd really love to have it b4 friday.

With all the talkin' I do about it you would think the entire org would know what my exhaust setup by now.

It's a WSP 2.5" Mandrel Y-pipe --> Stock Cat (half blown) --> 2.5" bpipe with 20" Glasspack resonator -->Flowmasters 80-series (2 chamber) Camaro style muffler with dual outlets --> 2.25" pipe running around spare tire well out the other side of bumper --> 3.5" Chrome tips w/dual bumper cutouts.

Actually, with the addition of my resonator my exhaust has gotten really tame. I can actually hear my engine at wot, and the high pitched rice is gone. It's deeper, quieter and mellowed. Still throaty and dirty sounding at idle and low RPM, but the rice has been slashed 60% in the upper RPM band. Do you think the 2.5" exhaust system is going to hurt my power? Even boosted i'm told 2.5" is enough.

YOU STILL HAVE YOUR STOCK Y-PIPE! Sheesh... the y-pipe is the only performance mod that almost everyone can really feel. I felt some added power with the intake, but I definatally could feel the midrange pull with my y. You're blown too so you'll be seeing 20HP to the wheels. And your auto, so all you have to do is mash the peddle, sit back and observe your surroundings.

My SC was my second main priority after lowering it!
