Shopping for Boost and EGT gauges

I've given up the idea of buying the Blitz DC gauges and have settled on the Auto Meter 2-1/16th Phantom #5701 boost gauge. Which one is the EGT?

have you checked www.gruppe-s.com for cheaper DC gauges? I left the link in the thread in 5th gen forum also.

Thanks! Those are nicer prices! I've emailed them to provide me with estimated shipping costs.

I really wish Blitz had an EGT for their DC series.

Thats another reason why I should lean towards the Auto Meters.

5744 comes with the probe and wire (2 1/16 Phantom Pyrometer)
5765 is the EGT gauge (2 1/16 Phantom).

Personally I prefer the Ultra-Lite series.

I heard all of the Auto meter series (non Lunar) have weak backlights so they look dim at night. Something to consider if you drive a lot at night.

I would've purchased the Ultra-Lite series because of the silver bezels, but for some reason went with the Phantoms and sort of regret it now. I think I'll take them out one day and just paint the bezels to match the rest of the interior. Now the lighting like you said IS pretty dim, but I decided to match them up with the rest of my interior lighting by using blue leds and now they're really bright. Check out links of the pics below.

I was wondering about the lighting. Looks really good by the way.
Where did you get the blue leds? I got to do that. I hate the way they light up

Thanks, I got them from autodynamic.com. I wouldv'e linked them to you but for some reason their site is pretty slow. They are the 194/168 EXTRA BRIGHTNESS 4-led blue led bulbs, I think they were like $10.95 for a pair.

Looks awesome! Were the bulbs easy to swap out?

Same here, they look great! Same question, because I'll definitely do that with my gauges, but maybe in green to match my Greddy boost gauge, or white to keep it stock looking.

I like the Ultra-lite because of the silver bezels too. I'm also interested in the carbon-fiber series, they've got the silver bezels too.

I am going to have to say the Apexi is a nice EGT gauge. Maxoverdose just told you to check out Gruppes thats the place most Atl members got their SAFC from. I like them fast shipping.

Yup, I agree with Jaime, Apexi gauges are really nice. Yes they are more expensive, but well worth it. Furthermore, the Apexi gauges have the recall button so you can keep your eyes on the road and not have to stare at the gauges. When you slow back down, you can just press a button and see how high the EGT went for example. And of course, the lighting of the Apexi gauges at night are hard to beat. So if you can, spend the extra money for it, well worth it.

Very easy since the led bulbs are just like the push-in wedge bulbs that go into the sockets in the bumper lenses, same size bulbs, Autometer happens to use the same sockets.

Not true, the lighting on the gauges is very bright and easy to see, it's actually best to have them on a dimmer so you can turn it down....

Yea, I connected mine to the factory dimmer switch and its pretty cool when I can dim them all the way down at a stoplight race on unsuspecting victims. I left my reverse indiglo gauges set on its brightest and not hooked up to the dimmer so I can still read the speedo with the pillar gauges dimmed.

In your other post you said they are pretty dim at night. Mtrai says they aren't? Shouldn't matter, since I'm going to change the LED to something brighter anyways. The dimmer idea is something I'll consider too.

Mine were pretty damn bright, and I had the green lens on the bulbs. I never had a problem seeing them. My fiance commented before that she could see my gauges when she was in her car behind me, and I used to get reved on all the time when punks in honduh's saw my gauges at night...

That's cool, I'm getting the autometers and maybe switching the LEDs just for a custom look. I was concerned with their brightness at night, but you've put those to rest .

Well, I meant that the factory bulbs that come with the gauges aren't that bright, its still somewhat readable, but the blue leds I put in are much brighter, and if its too bright I could tone them down with factory dimmer. Even with 20% tint all around, my brightest setting is still visible from outside.

I'll second that to make you feel even better

Be warned, the blue condoms that autometer sells for their bulbs really ARE dark. I left part of the bulb exposed and part covered to up the light level!

Green is nice and bright though!
