Both the new WRX STi and the Lancer Evo VIII that are debuting on the American market in 2003 will have water spray kits for their intercoolers. How beneficial is this system? Is it similar to NOS in the sense that it only lasts for a small duration and requires refilling of the water resevoir?

 

it is not similar to nos since it's water. But it helps cool better if you are boosting high and helps against detonation, doesn't prevent but helps.

 

I not a big fan of putting water into the engine. Too much like hydrolocking on purpose. Hopefully someone will post before and after dyno results. Good luck and have fun if that is the way you go. keep us posted.

 

Actually it's a mixture, so it's not like pouring tap water into the engine.

Kev did it on his 5th gen when he had a S/C.
