yes reliable to an extent. If you abuse it like gunning it to redline over and over again, it's probably gonna be less reliable than normal driving.

then you have a good start....

now issues that people ran into besides blown auto tranny :
-melting puellys
-blower leaking oil/loud noise
-belt alignment/shredding
-poor customer srevices from BOTH vortech and stillen

Don't forget axles.

My SC ate 2 axles in 3 months!

But it's worth it!

The issue you have would not be axles, I have say your tranny if your auto.

The vortech supercharger is like all things that are man made. They can fail at a moments notice and then there are others that are just fine. From reading many threads I seen 3 very serious SCer incidents. To me thats not that many. There are guys out there that dog the **** out of their cars and to this day still running. I dont dog out my car but when the opportunity is there and the highway is open I punch it. So my opinion the blower itself is reliable. Just replace the plastic pullies with alloy or metal ones.

I don't consider my axles a big problem - they only xost $285, a small price to pay for the way I drive.

I've had my SC installed in Oct/2000 and I've had blower bearing problems 2 years to the week. I probably contributed to its failure due to overtightening because of belt slippage during the winters. The auto tranny is still going fine. I forgot to record my mileage at the time of the install.
As for the Stillen pullies I replaced them with DanNY's aluminum ones. At first I thought my Stillen pullies were starting to melt when all it was was a small melted bit of rubber belt stuck on. I just have only the Stillen tensioner pulley and DanNY's aluminum idler pulley on.
