Ordering a new V2 on Monday (BOV or not)

Ordering from Avalon tomorrow. They sell the Blitz BOV for $199 (Dunno if I can work out a deal or not). Do you guys think I should just got for it now, or wait until I _need_ it.

FYI - I'm going to start with the stock pully for a month or so before moving down to a 3.25" (stock clutch).

Advice?

Nah. Their quote wasn't much better, and with shipping (I'm a LOT closer to Avalon), it wouldn't be as good of a deal.

Is the Greddy that much better?

Drop the pulley size now, why? you dont have to pull the blower out and so on. You dont have to take your RPMs all that high to boost full 10PSI. Today I punched it on the freeway the most I saw thru the corner of my eye was 4PSI and it didnt even hit 5.

Yes! You'll love it. You just have to make sure you get the steel universal flange to be welded on the cross-over pipe. I had the Blitz before the Greddy and it was okay, though after hearing a few bov's in person, I definetely made the switch. You could get the Blitz if you really want it on Ebay for little less than what everyone else is charging. I got my Greddy from Ebay brand new for like $165 shipped. Trust me, its worth getting. Performance is still the same, but the sound will please you the most.

Haven't I read of leaking problems with the Greddy?

Pulling the blower doesn't bother me, hell, it gives me something to do on the weekend.

I kinda want the stock pully to get a baseline. Going to the track as much as I do, I'm interested to see what difference can be made with different amounts of boost.

The blitz leaks too on our superchargers. It opens up slightly (or leaks) at around 3-4K rpms to 4500 rpm (well at least for me, 3.33" pulley) but I still hit the expected 9psi at redline. Don't worry about it, the Blitz owners don't know they're leaking because they can't hear it like the Greddy at those rpms.

I was leaking the whole first week cause I did not know to adjust it the other way and never boosted until Saturday on the hook up with Lawrence and made some changes...it really made a big diff...

is the flange needed for the Greddy different than the one on the pressure pipe already and is it possible the one that came with the Blitz is useable?

basically I am looking for the differences...

the greddy flange is bigger than the blitz, so it won't work. I just had mine put on thursday and the shop just welded the greddy flange on top of the blitz one because they didnt want to risk ruining the paint on the pipe.

Exactly what my shop did. Be sure to face it towards the blower because for some reason it sounds 5x louder that way. I assume the air is cmoing out the BOV more linear that way when bounces off the throttle plate when it closes.

Ben, I saw your post about how it was louder facing the passenger side and thats how I put it in, it sounds awesome. Also I went to auto zone and picked up those bypass caps to plug the two holes on the air filter, worked perfectly, thanks again.

Cool, did you adjust it so that it doesn't vent any air? Mine is set to not vent any air, to where one slight turn to loosen it and it'll vent a little bit of air and I get a really really high-pitch sound that way. I'm glad you listened to me and got those bypass caps. I figured it would be the most cost-efficient but effective route.

Mine's set almost to the loosest setting where it vents a lot of air at idle, i'll play around with the settings today and see how it sounds. thanks ben

Yea, when I first installed it facing towards the driverside, I was already pleased with the sound over the Blitz so I left it at the loosest setting since tightening it didn't make any difference that way. I then faced it towards the blower with the loosest setting and it sounded twice as loud. I then tightened it to where it doesn't vent any air and it's like 5x louder than the Blitz and with a high-pitch. I left it to that setting because the sound is addictive, I know that having it vent the air at idle is better for the blower so I heard, but I'm addicted to the sound already. At least revving it keeps me from actually boosting all the time which could be worse.

I agreed with Jay25....it takes a lot of work to remove and reinstall the blower, unless you are Kevin and Delio, who do it under 1 hour. You can go with a smaller pulley and adjust your peak boost with the BOV.

I understand that. Now I have another reason to leave the stock pully on though. ASP won't ship my idler and tension pullies for about 5 weeks. I hope to install the kit before that.

More of an argument for the stock pully (using the plastic idler).

are we talking about stock SC pulley? it takes less than one hour to replace the tensioner and idler pulleys. But for SC pulley, it took me a total of 8 working hours to take off the SC unit, open up the plate/blower and then reinstall it.

u can keep your plastic tensioner/idler in there. Just take it easy on the pedal for now until you received your metal pulleys. But I would get a 3.125 SC pulley now.

My point was I don't want to put on a smaller SC pully until I get the ASP pullies.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to start with the stock pully. Working on the car is half the fun of a project like this!

Tell me about it...your kit was a much better deal! Although I like knowing that I'm going to get everything brand new. My wallet doesn't though.

3000 miles and a month old seems pretty new to me.

I hear ya. Like I've said, I would have gladly purchased your kit.

But having a kit that nobody else has ever had makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
