custom turbo?

whats up ya'll. I was wondering how some people make their own custom turbos for their maximas. I have a 97 maxima, and am desperately needing some more hp. I can buy many of the parts much cheaper than the kit itself, so how should I go about doing this? What parts, how to assemble, and what else would I need to buy in order for it to be compatible with the maxima 3.0L engine specs?

When doing a custom kit, one thing that people tend to undercalculate is the piping. Piping can be VERY expensive. I would use search to find all the kits available and ask the people that make the kits how much it would be just for piping. If I were you, I would search for a kit you think will suit you and just go with that. It will save you a lot of trouble.

i'de like to disagree with that. piping can be done from 200-400bux. there's a shop in bakers field that does custom mandrel bent piping for 200bux from the manifold back. i've had a few people go there already.

Wow! Never seen a price close to that around here. Woohoo, road trip to Bakers Field.

Yep yep yep - take it to your own local shop. Consult with them on
how you want the piping run and look at various ways you could do it
with all manner of sizes of piping and routing and so forth. I bet
you come in below or very near the cost of one of the existing kits
but with the benefit of knowing it's your own stamp on it. Plus, if
any issues come up, you'll be dealing with a local shop. It'll be
easy to alter fitments and customize various aspects of the kit. My
guess is you can finish it up for around $3K.

custom turbo

actually, you could go intercooled t04e for err, say about $2500, piped to the muffler, all new parts.

heh heh heh...

the piping isnt that much really, as long as you get mild or aluminized steel, you can do it for about $400. What adds up is the little stuff...

turbo and wastegate: 900
Piping: 400
FMU: 150
IC: 350
Muffler: 100

but then there is:
silicone connectors: ridiculously expensive, like 100 to 150
clamps: if you use tbolt, like 60 or 70 bucks, possibly more
oil lines/cooling lines: 120
if you want a new cat: 100 or use straight pipe...
BOV: 200

im sure im forgeting some of the stuff...

oh yeah, lots of time...
