Experience with Kev's car

I was lucky enough to drive Kev's car the other day. OMFG! It is soooo nice (and rice ... hehe)! Boost comes on nice and early cos he chose the BB turbo. Power on the top end is a little lacking but that could be just a matter of tuning. What a wonderful car! When he drove it felt like it pulled harder than I drove ... well I didn't want to break anything! The low end definitely pulls harder than mine maybe being at sea-level helps quite a bit! We drove at about 9-10 psi heheh yuuummm with no problems! I can see why Jane doesn't like it! I don't think it's good for you either and you should give it to me ! I will gladly make the sacrifice and take it off your hands!

I can't wait to see what it does on the dyno when tuned! There are a number of things that Kev needed to work around to get the kit to fit in his car but it seemed to fit OK ... a couple of small things that still bother me but doesn't bother Kev

Awesome ride! When can I drive it again? Hehe!

Thanks to Kev, Jane and Matthel for hosting me! hope to meet up with more of the max folks in Cali in the future.

Hopefully a 3" cat-back and tuning will fix the top end (and the other thing we talked about )... it's definitely rich, but better rich than lean. Pulling up to 5-5.5K and shifting early makes a difference. You should've taken it all the way up to redline.

Make the long journey to Cali with your car and we'll setup a meet so you can chat with the other folks in our area.

Thanks for dropping by before your trip and thanks for the compliments.

I remembered I was sucked in completely to his seat at 2nd gear, 9.4psi. Also something was sucked out on there that's why he put in a new leather seat.

nice ride! she is too fast for me to handle.

Downpipes?

Have you guys with turbo's considered tuning the powerband by changing the downpipe diameter? I've seen this on factory turboed cars. I don't know much about it but I've seen decent gains on volvo T5's. My old car was a 97 nonturbo volvo, until I wrecked it.

Kev,

what are your thoughts on a 3" mandrel B-pipe into a flowmasters 40-series muffler?

My thoughts? I bet that would sound great.

I don't like the canister... looking for something a bit more

To this day, I still kick myself for not getting the 3" custom GReddy cat-back from Adam (MY4DSC).

I have given up the quest to put a raw, rumbly, manly sounding muffler on Kev's car.

I now leave you to the riceboys and their wonderous fart cans. Like a sparrow with a fixed wing, you must go venture into the world of rice. You have been tempted by the domestic side, and did not partake.
