Re: changing fuel pump

If it's the stillen kit, you just need to swap the FMU disc. That would depend on which pulley.. if it's the 3.33" you can go with either the 6:1 ratio like me (a LITTLE bit lean in my case, to be tuned with a S-AFCII), or a 8:1 disc which would likely make you run very rich so once again, get that S-AFCII

No need for a Walbro or injectors or anything else that's not included in the kit, not until you really start to toy with it and go to something like a 2.87"

Hmm... so with my 3.33" setup I should get a 6:1 disc? I'm stil using the one that came with the stock v2 kit. I'm guessing it's the 8:1? I know I'm running super rich cuz on my AFCI I had to some of the settings all the way to like 23%+.. What do you think?

with 9 PSI you wont need larger injectors even with 10PSI. You will need bigger injectors if you install the VI because @6100 RPMS you will start running lean. Swap out the FMU to 8:1 disk and you ll be fine. The stillen aux pump is fine. If you dont want the pump under your hood and have cash lounging around then swap to a walbro and get a new O ring seal from the dealer when you replace your stock fuel pump for the walbro.

You said "Swap out the FMU to 8:1 disk and you ll be fine" isn;t that what comes with the stock V2?

That may be true. The 6:1 disk came stock with the V1 kit, I think Jay was referring to that. If you want to be sure, take the disk out and measure it, it's easy to do. The 8:1 disk is around 2.22" in diameter, iirc. The 6:1 will be smaller.

stillen kit has an aux fule pump. it will work with 9 psi and no injector is needed. there's no replacement injector for 5th gen anyway.

FYI : 3.33 is not going to get you to 9psi peak boost, you prolly need 3.25 or 3.125 to get you there.

I am running 10psi with 8:1

sounds like antoher 5th gen is getting boosted?

I checked with Stillen and the part that comes on v2 2000+ are indeed the 8:1 disc. And I'm running pretty rich at this point even with the AFC tuned at 23+%. Fuel Pressue was at 34psi. Now it's idling at 40psi. And gas miles have sucked lately. I get like 250 sometimes on a full tank. I used to get 300+ easily. So I guess I should look at getting the 6:1 disc and then retuning my AFC?

what's your A/F ration on dyno? mine's way rich...under 10 after 4000rpm. I have seen Kevin tuning a 5th gen SC'ed with AFC and brough the A/F ratio back to 11.5 flat.

have you looked into getting a adjustable FMU? I think that's a better way to go in the future.

typing so freaking fast I meant to say take out the 8:1 and install the 6:1 sorry about thats what I thought I typed, that should be more then fine for a 3.33 pulley.

wtf?

8:1... you sure of this? I've heard until now that they came with the 6:1 - bigdogjonx's came 8:1, but that was it...

This is starting to make me wonder if my dyno shop was on crack with my power and a/f figures..

I'll open up my FMU tonight or tomorrow and see what I got with mine.

I called up stillen and asked them what comes with a v2 Kit for 2001 and he said that it was the 8:1. Spoke to Andrew..

4:1 = 1.59"
6:1 = 1.85"
8:1 = 2.22"
10:1 = 2.47"

That's a big disk What size pulley you gonna run/which SC? Just leave it in there and tune it leaner.. or get the 8:1 to be safe. If you're running 9lbs on the 3.33 you could survive on the 6:1, 8:1 for a 3.125.. all depends on which s/c, its intake, and whether you're gonna be bleeding it or not (I'm assuming not)

Yep I just saw the post about that... Daniel's setup has me miffed.. stock fuel system without the secondary pump, it looks like he might be getting away with it on a diff. disc?

Yeah the highest ratio you can go is 12:1

Did you get an EGT gauge with the thing? Best way to find out how you're running is still to look at your EGT's while boosting and/or dyno it with the wideband o2 sensor (the a/f ratio gauge you got is more for looks than it is for actual functionality in this case (as is mine) : it just displays what voltages correspond to a 14.7:1 stoich ratio and what the car is trying to do, not what actually goes on in the mixture and comes out).
