Questions about engine oil cooler and installing fuel pressure gauge
Questions about engine oil cooler and installing fuel pressure gauge
Hi all:
got couple questions about these two subjects.
I recently bought a defi fuel pressure gauge. For the wiring part, it has 4 wires:
ground
ignition
illumination
12v power
I assume illumination should be tapped to parking light...but how come it requires two power sources? (12v power and ignition) I am going to tap the 12v to a wire and tap ignition to an empty fuse slot. is it correct?
about the engine oil cooler.....
to people who have one in car....do you notice the blower is cooler after the install? and if you have an oil temp gauge....do you notice the temperature is much lower before the install?
if you have a thermostat in the sandwich adapter or a thermo control valve......
are those mechanical thermostat and they do not need to be powered?
and is the temperature kept near 180F (if you have a oil temp gauge)
thx for your help~

for your gauge, ignition power turns the gauge on, and constant is for powering the gauge, or if you have any sort of memory/playback function, it keeps power for memory as well...
you can tap the 12v switched into any fuse that provides the right power when the car is on.. doesn't have to be empty. you can also use the cigg. lighter and the you can use the light in the ash tray for the illumination.

thx guys for the replies....
for the gauge part: where is a good source for constant power? the gauge does not have memory feature but it requires two sources of power.
Confused: you mentioned to tap the 12v to a fuse slot...in that case, where am I going to tap my ignition to?
for illumination, I might tap into parking light wire on my EGT gauge. hope it is ok.
for the oil cooler part: I am thinking about getting the B&M supercooler for imports. Can I use OEM filter after installing the sandwich adapter? Since B&M makes this cooler for most of the imports....how does the adapter accommondate all different sizes of filters?

12v switched or ignition on.. same thing. The constant 12v you can pull off the battery or a fuse thats always on.. ie. horn, power seats.
switched

it says transmission cooler on B&M's website
right now, I can either get the full oil cooler kit ($119) and get the thermostat valve ($60) or get your cooler and the mocal sandwich adapter.
seems like your way is cheaper....
thx Kevin

You can get the full Permacool kit for $89. I still have my old oil cooler if you're interested.

Yup, it's a tranny cooler.

I prefer the B&M because I can use metal braided line onto it. thx for the offer. btw, I got an Aeroquip catalog from Vic Hubard....see if you need to look at it. btw, what thread size of the sandwich adapter are you using?
