Sometimes I get a pretty nasty backfire (or what sounds like one) when revving the engine at idle. Also, it has happened a couple of times in 1st gear.

This is when pressing on the accellerator then quickly letting off at about 3000RPM.

This normal?

What does this mean?

Ian I get it ALL the time.. like a little popping noise?

I get it only when I let off the throttle. I think it's due to the hi flow/gutted cat and 3 inch exhaust.

I have ZERO exhaust leaks

Not really an answer , but your not the only one

me 3. its because everyone here are running rich dats y it back fires i think.

 

Me 4! I get it at >3000 RPM mostly in 1st gear and occasionally in 2nd gear. I think i just need to do some tuning.. good to know I'm not the only one.

 

does it have anything to do with auto ECU with manual tranny? 3 out of 4 ppl here have done 5spd swap. and DAnny (PCguru2k) have the same problem too

 

Nah - I had this problem way before I got the 5spd.

Also, I now have a 5spd with 5spd ECU.....
