auto S/C question

anybody just install a tranny cooler and not done the VB mod? Any drawbacks? I only ask because I don't want to lose the smooth shifting in my car and I hear that installing the VB mod will make shifts more noticeable and drive tranny temps up anyway. If I just install a tranny cooler and run Amsoil ATF, will that keep my tranny safe w/ the added power? I am not an aggressive driver all the time, I don't plan on driving hard on a regular basis. Most of the time I just leave the car in D and do not do any 1-2-D-OD shifting.

Thanks in advance.

S/C + auto without VB = massive (destructive) slippage and possibly missed/late shifts.

Get the VB if you want the blower. If you're not getting the VB, don't bother with it at all.

The spare ended up being a non-VLSD one so that never happened!

The old one was on its way out... in fact the night before the "big day" of the tranny removal, I lost 1st gear at a light

I'm paying them for the tranny work tomorrow, and I should have the car at the track on Friday

PmpLuxCEO, I would get the VB mod if I were you. Once you get that blower installed you'll get a case of heavy-foot-itis, exploring the new power it brings. I got my VB about 6 months or so after my blower was installed and I went through that period stomping the gas pedal whenever the opportunity arose. No damage to the tranny so far but its good insurance to get the VB.

thanks guys for the advice, just got the VB installed today. the tranny shop said something about the lines being 30psi higher? I'm not very techie. .. the mechanic said that shifts are a lot firmer now. Don't notice any difference right now, but I guess I will once the s/c goes in huh?

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

you are on your way...but how they figured the pressure increase numerically is odd...how did they measure the change?

You should notice a change now. Punch it and you should a much harder shift from 1-2. And really will notice the kick when you start boosting.
