I think I've found my turbo - thumbs up or down?

I think I've found my turbo - thumbs up or down?

Garrett T3/T04S 60-1 Turbo

360* Thrust Bearing
.63 A/R Turbine Housing
Stage III Turbine
.70 A/R Compressor Housing
60 Trim Compressor Wheel

I'm also debating the ceramic ball bearing model of the same. Is it worth it?

I think the lag will be fine. It should spool around 2500 wouldn't you say? That'll help wheel hop off the line a bit.

This should be a direct bolt to HLH0501 or Nigel's piping?

I'm more concerned with 30-100mph response than I am about >30mph. I can compensate for the lack of low end in other ways.

I'm excited about it, but feel free to poke holes in my choice. The car is mainly a weekend driver, but I HAVe to be able to slaughter the local Hondas... and perhaps give some of the Cobras a run for their money (stoplight to stoplight 1/2 mile)

Can I do it with this... you see my mods in my signature.

I am not a turbo spec guru by any means, but with that setup I would think you would hit full boost at 2800rpm.. say goodbye to first gear and most of second

Most straight t4's and hybrid t4/t3 turbos will bolt up, you may have to re-clock the turbo to adjust for the intercooler piping or stuff like that.

Running 7-9psi on that turbo, from a roll, not many cars under 400hp stand a chance gotta love the powerband.

It should bolt up to either piping. But the T04S compressor is a little biggerr than the T04E's they use. And on the one PFI kit I saw, the compressor housing already touched the intake pipe.

And that turbo is a very good size. Though you will see boost a little later than Sadler's T04E, it will still be low. Remember, having full boost at 2.8-3k is very low. A straight T4 turbo won't see full boost until around 3.8-4K.

And having full boost below 3K isn't necessarily a good thing off the line. Jason's car is a little hard to drive off the line because of the massive torque down low. All you do is spin if you're not careful.

if i give the car the slightest amount of gas in 1st gear i lost traction immediately, its fun at times, but sucks for my expensive tires..

i think if you go for the to4s, you should get the ball bearing option and maybe even the supertrim, it seems to work much better with erik's (ramius83) setup.

as mentioned, the pfi kit is already a little tight as it is, you may have to do a good amount of tweaking to get things in place.

www.pfispeed.com no info there though, they are very vague about the kit. No specifics are mentioned, much less the specs on the turbo.

Check out www.turbonetics.com for info on the Super Series as well as ball bearing options and so on.
