Those of you who have temporarily removed your SC

On the oil return hose under the SC, what did you lug it with?

Will just tape over it work or do i need to do something else?

I don't think it's under any pressure, correct?

Any other tips/tricks for running without a blower for a few weeks?

Oil line is already removed and stock belt is already back on.....

I just taped over the end. There's no pressure.

Can't think of anything else, except I that I made a temporary hot air intake by attaching a prcai filter onto the end of the maf.

Are you sure about that Stephen? Because I turned the engine on and the oil came gushing out, making a nice mess inside the engine bay and on my garage floor.

Surely you're talking about the oil return hose with it connected to the blower (still mounted on the bracket) and disconnected from the return pipe on the water pump cover. We're talking about the blower removed and the hose left connected to the return pipe.

But yeah, in the scenario we're talking about, there is no pressure, other than slight crankcase pressure. Even if there was some pressure there would be no oil leak out the return pipe since it is not fed with oil. Oil is able to drain down into the oil pan from that location quite freely, along with engine coolant when you pull the water pump out. Found that out not too long ago.

Sorry, I misread that. I thought it was the oil feed line.

Ian the oil feed line you can place a bolt on the end of the hose, thats what I did and tighten it up, it may leak a slight one or two drops once in a while but thats what I did and zip tie it. make sure the bolt fits because it has lots of pressure.

The oil return pipe you can once again use a thick clean bolt and clamp it down to the end of the hose where it connects to the blower. That should solve your oil issues.

He did cap it off the feed line, but that cause one of the fittings to leak really bad (where it attaches to the T fitting. He ended up taking the oil feed line and T fitting and replacing the pressure sensor. That's taken care of. Bad part is now we get to make a new fitting.

Actually, it started leaking severely where the AN fitting meets the hose on the end nearest the SC.....looks like I have to replace that AN fitting also.

Feed line is removed, I was asking about the return hose.

I'll just tape it up if that works....

if your T adapter is messed up you will need to get the yellow ones they sell those at NAPA, you will need to take the one you have completely apart and if something else is missing you can get a earls fitting thats what I used. The hose is a 4AN hose 1/4 thread

The T adapter is fine - like I said, it's leaking up at the end of the steel line nearest the SC.

Where it meets the Oil Pan is solid.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm sorry to bring the thread back from the dead, but what tape did yall use? Duct tape?

What size bolt do you think will fit into the drain hose?

All I need to do for the feed line is to get a -04 AN plug, right?

Just took the s/c out for a couple of weeks so I need to know...

Thanks in advance
Steve

Duct tape will work nicely. I use black electrical tape because it leaves less of a sticky goo when you take the tape off. Just be sure to clean off the return pipe with acetone or alcohol to degrease it thoroughly before putting the tape on so that the tape adheres well.

I just took the return line off the blower and connected the feed line to it. Stuck it in and tightened the clamp. Worked fine for 2 months

That was my first guess. I figured it would be too much pressure and leak out but obviously not. One more tid-bit for the boosted book of knowledge.

I hope you guys keep the restrictor nozzle in place when you do that. Otherwise your oil pressure is going to drop quite a bit.

The nozzle that the oil feed line connects to. It has an orifice and keeps too much oil from entering the blower. It also keeps the oil pressure in your engine from dropping significantly.

It is shown in the bottom right of this page:

I didn't think it would effect oil pressure, guess I'll cap it off from now on. Good to know.
